Government is not infallible.  Government is only an                             executive control, a centralized authority for expressing the will of the people.
Before you have a government, you must have the people.
Without the people, there can be no government.  The government must be, therefore an expression of the will of the people.

FOREWORD

“If Sint Maarten is to survive and evolve as a 21st century competitor regionally as well as in the international sphere.
We will have to elect, to defend to the death the humanrights of everyone in our midst as guaranteed in a democratically instituted constitution.
We must elect to be Sint Maarteners first and to defend Sint Maarten against all attempts to erode our Sovereignty, all of us will have to portray to the international community an unbroken oneness whether we are Africans in the Diaspora, Europeans or whatever  ethnicity one lays claim to, all of us will have to be a true Sint Maartener”
“True power is the ability to transcend force by persuading the people of a society both common and elite to work in tandem with the leader in pursuit of common goals and interests”
The world has now moved into a phase called globalization, on a scale undreamt of by the masses sixty years ago although visionaries foresaw this future, it is still awe inspiring and marvelous in the sheer scope of its endless possibilities.
Space travel is common even space tourism is a reality today; Nanotechnology has changed the scope of technological advances forever.
The internet is a massive globalizing tool it has given most of the worlds population and I particular vast swaths of the so called Third World an equalizing tool of leverage.
Even today on Sint Maarten we have this wonderful technology which affords virtually every household an opportunity to increase their quality of life overnight.
That many are not aware of the actual scope of the awesome power in their living rooms is due sadly to lack of education, while many purchase the technology for their children.
This will soon change the world of today is digitized and interactive as the world becomes more digital, everyone will have to participate willingly or unwillingly.
The need for certain types of labor will be rendered obsolete in the not to distant future, persons who are not technology savvy will simply not be able to function optimally in this new world.
All jobs will require a certain amount of technical know how we are moving increasingly into a more knowledge intensive economy.
The knowledge economy is one in which people will become increasingly technology conscious, education will be geared more towards developing a workforce that is integrated and self regulating, collectivism will be increasingly the norm.
Sint Maarten will have to adjust to this new world in all fields of human endeavor.
Since Sint Maarten will not be able to mass produce technology all small economies will begin to select their brightest students and finance their studies in technology intensive fields bringing them back home will not be a question it will be a fact of life without their expertise no economy will function.
As can be seen the worlds economy is interconnected and interdependent this will become increasingly a fact of life the International Standards Organization ISO is already implementing a policy globally that will ensure products developed anywhere in the world will all be priced exactly the same .
This will ensure a truly level playing field this policy is already being carried out a quick look at the back of most appliances especially those coming-out of Asia will reveal the ISO seal of approval.
National sovereignty of most nations will be increasingly eroded, where does such developments leave islands in the Caribbean region; it leaves them at the mercy of much larger economies.
The Caribbean region will in fact have to form blocks purely out of a common need for survival the regional entity known as Caricom will gain real relevance purely out of a common regional realization that unity in the global market translates to strength.
The isolationaist game that the so called Netherlands Antilles played will no longer work in this new global society.
Snubbing our Caribbean brothers and depending solely on tourism and European aid will not sustain the island any longer as the ambitions of the population changes to reflect global trends, funds from a variety of sources will ensue soon Sint Maarten will learn that one can ill afford not to join with the rest of the Caribbean as European political interests will cater more to European interests leaving the island to fend for itself.
Given our present reality we would do well to begin to deal with facts and dispose of the idea that persons will continue to come to the region in the future in the numbers that they do today.
As was previously stated tourism globally is already taking on a diverse character China is developing its vast cultural resources to cater to Western tourists, India is also delving into cultural tourism, terrorism and financial crises are also changing the direction tourists will choose to go.
In a world where terrorism is an all encompassing very real threat tourists will choose destinations where their safety can be guaranteed of course this will never be one hundred percent.
But the expertise that Italy has and Greece has in dealing with a terrorist threat surpasses the combined expertise of every Caribbean island in that area, the region does not even prepare for the possibility of such.
The coup in Trinidad by the Jamaat Al Muslimeen should serve as a warning to all that the region is not immune to such.
However the opportunity for a regional prosperity is greater than ever before Iam positively optimistic that the region will rise to the occasion and many of our Caribbean sister islands will emerge as leaders in the region.

 SHARDS OF MY SOUL.
This is not a poem these are shards of my soul a soul at once torn and complete two faces of good and evil melancholic yet joyful look with your soul eyes as the man bares his essence.
Love and innocence lost this is an ode to love to bonding to roses.
To the female flower her Tulip her Pomegranate, her Bejeweled Goblet, her feminine repose her waterfall her shower of beauty.
I seek for love like a thirsty man in a desert twice eluded once found, when found contained in a bosom jealously guarded.
It was exquisite not sensual never erotic it remained pure likened to that of a virgin.
An untouched unspoilt virgin she shone brightly in my minds eye.
I reached to touch the vision she vanished, I cried out in anguish as if I were a child again and my mother left me I winsomely sought the unspoilt virgin but she was not her captors took her, she was deceived with trinkets and fake gold.
One her captors is called slavery, the other is mammon the other is called whoredoms next is vice, followed by Neo-Colonialism, racism fathered them all their mother western imperialism and their father birthed a child called tourism this child brought with it great wealth and illusions of grandeur.
Riding with the child called tourism was death with tourism came death and destruction.
The children ceased to be productive they became cannibals and began to eat the flesh of their offspring.
The children were sacrificed on the altar of greed to Moloch god of poverty.
What a paradox such a dichotomy the children were sacrificed for wealth but their betrayers yet remain poor poverty of the soul the worst kind that afflicts mankind the betrayers of the children cannot think for themselves they are to dumb to even run their own house .
Some of the children escaped the demon called Moloch, the old man called them the “Joshua Generation”.
He said these escaped children would one day free the others who are mentally dead their spirits are strong and their souls want to be free.
He said there is an enemy within not on the outside he cautioned the Sheppard Boy to look for the enemy within he it is who will bring about destruction.
I said how will I know him and what is he called , he intoned look in the water I gazed at my own reflection beneath me, he said the image that you see is your enemy defeat him and all his weaknesses and you will be free.
I laughed old man how can I defeat my self?  He retorted all that is wicked all that is bad in your own heart destroy it and then you will know why I appear in your dreams.
He said the whore who sacrificed her own babies, another is holding her basket.
The old man laughed at the fools he said the Brahmin is controlling the greedy old whore he has the money that she wants, he laughed ha, ha, ha, he chortled mockingly as he jeered at their utter stupidity.
Hes said the colonial masters are not the masters anymore the Brahmin have the purse strings in his hand.
The old man was black he stood upright, tall and willowy his beard was white, I said who are you, he said Iam the spirit of prophecy Iam called a prophet.
I said what about the children with power and force in his voice he said “You shall live and not die” I asked about the once unspoilt queen, now an old whore I asked of her place and her whereabouts I pondered and I sought to know her name in the vision of enrapturing beauty the unspoilt queen, stood tall and proud the vision that I so covetously sought was no more it all vanished like a cloud and in her place was an old bedraggled colonized whore the old man in the vision said this former queen now whore’ name is miss Sint Maarten .
“ Her children are scattered to the four winds sacrificed on the altar of greed and he lamented the lost of innocence, as for me I only wanted the pleasure of knowing the virgin not the pain that came with the realization of her true nature.
This is the essence of mankind love and innocence, pain, pleasure and redemption and at the apex of all things the whirlwind the summation of life will.
Sint Maarten awaits her whirlwind will she reap what she has sown? The old man replied only time will tell

The desire of the conscious and enlightened Sint Maartener an Independent Sint Maarten. (Qualichie/Sualiga=Land of Salt.) ancient Arawak name given to the island by its indigenous inhabitants.
This symbol which is portrayed on the front cover of this book is again reproduced here and the symbology deciphered.
The white bird is a national symbol of the island namely the Brown Pelican a relic of the time of the great salt ponds this creature is endangered today by the pollution of its natural habitat.
The man with the sword represents the African sons of Sint Maarten, the man standing next to him is an Arawak his robe is purple symbolizing kingship the Arawak was an indigenous inhabitant preceding the African as an inhabitant of Sint Maarten. Although many Africans brought to the islands were in fact royalty this illustration portrays the African and the birth of his freedom on Sint Maarten the Genesis of a new era.
The Independence flag flies proudly above their heads the African woman at the left of the illustration depicts the female mother of the island and the male child  represents the shared hope of both parents for a male heir who can procreate and carry on the legacy of independence and peace that they have established .
The female child is representative of the ability of the female to birth new life and ideas into a culture the Arawak mother proudly bares her progeny in her arms. The two families are symbolic of indigenous peoples and our ability to create new symbols and our adaptive nature in adapting even slave symbols and making them a positive mark of identification in the recording of our shared history.
Alkebulan the continent misnomered Africa shows the origin of all humanity and is the place from whence the Black man claims his descent.

                                                   CHAPTER 1.

A HISTORY OF FOUNDATION SUALIGA YOUTH.

The early years our ideology and struggles.
This is a history of the organization Sualiga Youth the organization began officially in the year 2000, in the student city of Groningen.
I will detail here as clearly as possible my experiences during the years 2000 until 2002 in Groningen.
I came to Groningen in 1999 after having worked for sometime in the Chase Manhattan Bank as a Teller and Data Entry Clerk.
This history must be chronicled as the time for it is ripe this is a history of Sint Maarteners who overcame prejudice and resistance we overcame racism and extreme hatred death threats and police surveillance.
When I came to Groningen I immediately established myself in a job as a factory worker with the Van Gend en Loos factory.
Endeavoring thereby to serve as a visible example to the community I found myself in as a hardworking young man.
Soon thereafter my brother Bernardo Bailey joined me in Groningen where we lived in Damsport in a student flat.
At a certain point I went to the Alfa College, I did what is called a toelatingsexam in English this is called an entry exam.
During my time at the Hanze Hogeschool I did an internship at the Stitching Forsa which is Papiamento for power.
That foundation was an organization geared toward the ideology of championing the cause of the Antillean in Holland, it usually worked out for the cause of specifically Curacoaleneans.
During that time many Antilleans sold cocaine in Groningen specifically Crack Cocaine was the preferred drug that many youth sold increasingly it was observed some Sint Maarteners were involved in the drugs trade in Groningen.
I and my brother were invited to a meeting by a social worker whose portfolio included certain Sint Maarteners who were on the verge of falling through the cracks and would become so called randgroepjongeren i.e. delinquent youth.
Later that same day we were contacted by a mister Melvin Sille who worked for the gemeente or government in Groningen, he told us in no uncertain terms that the Groningen police were watching a group of Sint Maarteners for quite some time and if we did not intervene they would certainly be sent to prison.
He told us that he contacted us as he heard that we were influential within the community.
We were introduced to certain police officials after presenting them with the werkplan of the Sualiga Youth Foundation we were able to show and prove that the Sint Maarteners whom they were about to institutionalize were in fact all a part of Sualiga and were positively active in the community, only one person was convicted of a criminal act all the others were simply young and black and without representation in a European community hence their susceptibility to being lumped together with a vulnerable group in the community.
As a result of the meeting Sualiga Youth was put under the umbrella of Forsa we were at first typified as a so called student group however this was never the intention of the founding members the intention was always to function as a bonafide NGO with bylaws that governed our organization.
Another problem which we also saw continuously was the vicious cycle of students being literally thrown out of housing to make room for others who were arriving for the new school year.
This practice caused some to turn to crime. In Groningen this practice was continued by the SSSS under the direction of Linda Richardson I have documented proof of such.
We of the Sualiga Youth adequately informed the students pertinent to their civil and human rights in the scenario.
We soon became active with the First World alliance headed by Rafael Dollisson a.k.a. Chip.
We went to some of their activities invited by Melvin Sille and Chip we met and worked with professionals from Humanitas, Sozawe, Forsa, and many other organizations and persons.
When the so called Hangjongeren became a societal burden in Groningen we were called to represent the Sint Maarten community we successfully arbitrated a truce between warring factions and were able to instigate a situation where many young men were able to secure work.
The werhouder or Lawnmaker Patje promised us a building if we were able to secure a signed document from our leader of Government Sarah Wescott Williams.
Armed with a double mandate I boarded a KLM flight in the summer of 2000.
I came to Sint Maarten where I gained an audience with the leader of government Sarah Wescott Williams the actual event was filmed and appeared in the local media.
The mandate was not fulfilled in that I did not receive the requested letter of support.
I returned to Holland and came to Sint Maarten for good in September of 2002.
Sualiga Youth changed to Sualiga Extraordinary Minds as my documents will indicate the Sualiga Extraordinary Minds foundation went into talks with various government organizations we were brought up to date on the intention of the city Amsterdam to cooperate more with the Antillean authorities in the areas of culture and justice.
We were told that our expertise was not required at that time and we were brought into contact with Basisberaad to support our institution not financial but infrastructural.
It was then that one of the workers (Jaap) took our werkplan and uitvoeringsplan to a meeting with the SSSS without our consent and without our knowledge.
Today we see the very same organization enacting their agenda as per the students as if it came out of their organization when what they really did was simply coopt what they learnt from being exposed to our material.
Let me be abundantly clear while what they did was not illegal Jaap did commit an illegal act namely stealing he in turn most likely acted as if he spoke on our behalf.
Yet since the SSSS purports to be professionals they should have checked with us to verify his claims they did not do so and have to date not done so as a result of their ineptitude, I can now divulge all of their blunders publicly.
Before the Sualiga Youth came along no one could clearly and concisely articulate the following as no one ever took the time to survey the students in any given demographic in Holland from Sint Maarten as pertained their needs and “levensomstandigheden” immediate environment scholastically as well as socially.
I will now include here the letter sent to the Daily Herald that led to this book.

Stichting Sualiga Youth / Foundation Sualiga Youth.

To the Editorial Staff:

This letter is to document publicly certain inconsistencies that I have observed here on Sint Maarten particularly as pertains to the unprofessionalism and ineptness of certain bureaucrats.
I have written this article as a result of my utter disdain for the policies of the governing elite as pertains to the intellectual community from Sint Maarten.
The foundation Sualiga Youth successfully rehabilitated many so called problem youth who are Antilleans from the other islands as well as, we worked with government in Groningen with the Ganashi project, we were also involved with certain lawmakers (wethouders) in Den Haag with their poster campaign to highlight the positive activities many Antilleans were involved with in Den Haag.
I have been involved in many (trajecten) projects where the team comprised of strictly Antilleans and this was in Holland the knee-jerk policy of excluding the intellectual elite from the nation building process of our island is self defeating .
In the year 2000 I travelled to Sint Marten with a mandate from the Gemeente or the Government of Groningen and the Antillean Community in Groningen particularly the student body comprising the non profit foundation Stitching Sualiga Youth .
The mandate came about as a result of the successful work carried out by the Sualiga Youth Foundation to the point where we through properly informing both the government as well as the Antillean community in Groningen, we were able to function as an arbitrator between the Gemeente Groningen or the Government of Groningen and the so called problem youth of Antilleans in the community.
Certain Sint Maarten students were also described as problem youth or so called Randgroepjongeren or hangjongeren which means in English delinquent youth.
We created a video showcasing the musical abilities of the students from Sint Maarten which showed that they were positively busy in the Dutch society hereby avoiding them being lumped together with other youth who were involved in petty crime for no other reason than lack of adequate information concerning the Dutch society in which they resided.
The success of our arbitration led to the then lawmaker Patje promising that if we could get a written statement from our government on Sint Maarten showing their support for Sualiga Youth and its activities we would be given a building and the foundation would be subsidized on a yearly basis with the intention being to offer our services to the entire Antillean population in Groningen.
We never received such a letter but the uitvoerings plan or action plan of our foundation has been largely co-opted and plagiarized by the SSSS.
The students’ daily living conditions were brought to light by the Sualiga foundation before that time no one on the island in government knew nor did they acknowledge the fact that Sint Maarten students sometimes lived in deplorable conditions in Holland.
For those in Groningen their living condition was brought about by the policy of making room for the so called neiuwkomers i.e. students coming from Sint Maarten for the new school year.
Today we see students from Holland coming to Sint Maarten to develop a sustainability plan whilst there are students from Sint Maarteners living here on the island and in Holland who have travelled all over Africa including the most recent trip of Bernardo Bailey to Ethiopia where he engaged in trade between Ethiopians and himself as a Sint Maartener i.e. Sualigan, he studied and is developing a plan of sustainable development for rural Ethiopians.
Another example is the farming cooperative of Rafael Dollisson in Ghana.
How is that Sint Maarteners are good enough to develop sustainability plans for communities on the African continent but they are being ignored by the present government.
I presented the commissioner of education Sarah Wescott Williams with a copy of a scientific survey, carried out by the foundation i.e. Sint Maarteners (The meeting and presentation was published in the daily herald of said year) 2000.
The Survey was entitled A Sociopolitical Cultural Academic Report on The Educational System on Sint Maarten.
In said report we also outlined the precise activity of the youth here on Sint Maarten it was using the holistic model that, the present spate of crime by local young black males would have been largely avoided.
The call of some in the business community for more police is simply a plaster on a festering wound as only a long term educational program developed along the lines of an African centered education can prevent crime amongst a largely African population.
It is impossible to educate Africans as if they are Europeans the successful programs in Europe where Antilleans have been successfully integrated into Dutch society i.e. jobs and proper housing, with access to a basic education have all been either spearheaded by Antilleans themselves or they were involved in the crucial elements of any plan of action drafted.
Here on Sint Maarten we have the exact opposite Europeans are recruited to solve the problems of a Caribbean people without any input whatsoever from the populace.
Not even in Europe are Europeans that imbecilic as to expect Europeans to solve the social maladies plaguing a non European community without joint cooperation from non-Europeans in their midst here on Sint Maarten we have persons in government who believe that because they cannot articulate nor think for themselves that the entire populace are at a similar disadvantage .
I also have documented evidence of the SSSS openly stating that they are and were unwilling to assist what we call long-term residing students as those students must leave their flats or apartments before the arrival of the new students who will come to Holland at the beginning of the new school year.
The above described scenario is a very serious situation that results in students living together for extended periods of time in a flat or apartment without adequate information as to how to contact persons who can assist them various organizations such as the Bureau Voor Rechtshulp, (the Bureau for Legal Aid.)
There are a myriad of such organizations throughout Europe and a student has a fundamental right to be informed as to their basic civil and human rights by most organizations but if they are unaware of this they cannot make use of the organizations
and their resources. (Sualiga Youth informed students for years without any government funding whatsoever).
Note that I never said our foundation requested funding from government unlike many persons here on Sint Maarten who` mistakenly assume that government is responsible for them we know that we are responsible for ourselves.
Since our intellectual capital has been used in an underhanded manner I make this publicly known the claims laid down herein are all factual and can be viewed by anyone in the community who wish to do so.
Until I came to Sint Maarten and presented the leader of government and the department of education with the report drafted by a team of Sint Maarten intellectuals living and studying in Holland no government official had the vision much less the intellectual capacity to draft and articulate a long-term visionary report equal to the standard of the one drafted by Sualiga Youth it was after reading the Sualiga report that they then began to gain a keen insight and firsthand account as to the actual situation. The new government policy that we now see is as a direct result of that information being digested by them we were never acknowledged formerly by these people in any manner.
I do so now Bernardo Bailey a.k.a  Ras Enoch for his unceasing efforts on behalf of the youth and his visionary insight never giving up even when it nearly cost you your very life and family blessed love Lion heart, Rolando Laurence for his outstanding high caliber work,
Giovani Williams for his flawless translation of highly standardized Dutch Language legal documents and an unknown soldier Oscar Gumbs a.k.a Peaches who opened his home to many Sint Maarten students when they had nowhere else to go. (P.S. to all the others this is for those who were down from day one not the people who came along after, give honor to whom honor is due.)
The societal problems plaguing this community will never be solved by any one group of persons but a concerted effort must be applied by all concerned, we of the Sualiga Foundation are willing and able and will continue to do our part by working directly with the young so called “criminal”  “I prefer the term miseducated” and non criminal Black Youth population here on Sint Maarten and in Holland that is our mandate and destiny.
End of letter:
The following are a series of Dutch language letters and editorials that chronicle the research done by Sualiga Youth and our work amongst the Antillean community in Groningen the letters also document our correspondence with various government officials and organizations and our acceptance by the Europeans in their country and their preference of us in as pertained to the solving of our own communities problems to the exclusion of their own people.
The audacity and utter insanity of a non European government to allow so called experts from a foreign country come to Sint Maarten and claim to be able to conduct any meaningful survey without local professional impetus is doomed to fail.
Any government on this planet that cannot come to terms with its own internal inadequacies is doomed to fail.
The tendency of the so called government officials who are in fact as per a real democracy an illegally installed cabal, as is evinced by their method of buying votes with their yearly cash handouts and their well known illegal and undemocratic practices.
The so called government then does not exist since in a real democracy the people would have not been bought with cash handouts nor any other obviously illegal tactics.
Sint Maarten is in fact an oligarchy ruled and dominated by a cabal of corrupt bureaucrats whom are funded and supported by a foreign merchant class.
These merchants fund the campaigns of the politicians and are therefore the ones whose interests are in fact protected by the politicians whom are dependent on them for their continued political existence.
The incidences of youth on Sint Maarten murdering their peers is as a direct result of the self destructive policy of the illegally installed “government” since the children of those whose interests the politicians represent are not part of the prison population it may bode well for the average person to pay keen attention to what is written herein and develop some sort of awareness as this book is in fact a teaching tool which will not only highlight problems but it will offer solutions that will attempt to solve some of the most pressing of those problems.
A way to insure that the so called government of Sint Maarten becomes an actual public service organ that functions in the best interest of the population at large would be to, for a special interest or pressure group government of Sint Maarten before the United Nations Tribunal of Human rights and charge the individuals within the so called government with Human rights violations.
If such a charge is properly launched it will gain international prominence and it is on this platform that the real country Sint Maarten can be formed.
In the event of an actual formation of an independent government and country the entire population would have to literally be re-educated and deprogrammed from the miseducation and racist genocidal policies of the present system of government.
Figure 2. Symbols of colonialism. Photo of the border monument.
The flags of the Dutch, French, Netherlands Antilles and the European Union flag fly not even the colonialist flag that is said to represent the present system of government is to be found.
Another example of the blatant European practice of Eurocentricism.
This type of madness is unacceptable in a twentieth century community.
This overt attempt at marginalizing Sint Maarteners on our own island is seen by me as an act of repression and racism.
The E.U. flag is an abomination on the soil of Sint Maarten it should be removed from the border monument it represents a form of government that we have no involvement in.
The presence of the French and Dutch flags are also an act of overt repression and aggression, they seized the island illegally by means of enslavement and subjugation, subjugation of the Arawaks and enslavement of Africans for their agricultural sustainability and later as builders of their empire .
Today these same colonial imperialist forms of government are boldly flying flags on the soil of Sint Maarten proclaiming to the world their claim to the land.
Not one so called leader has yet to remove these abominations from the soil of Sint Maarten.
Stichting Sualiga Youth has endeavored from its inception to educate and enlighten the population as pertains to their history and culture.
There is an oral tradition that spans hundreds of years that is largely undocumented recently; one educator produced a work that was highlighted in the media.
Yet there is a certain oral tradition unique only to Sint Maarten and its indigents this type of oral tradition should appear in a finely crafted leather bound edition that can be handed down from generation to generation.
An example of such is the stories of Lokaloon the area of land in the hills of Marigothill.
Every year families would go into the hills to pick mangoes in the hills Lokaloon is a well known place which is the site of many historical events in the distant past and contemporary history.
The oral traditions and historical background of Sint Maarten is not even to be found at the University of Sint Maarten.
The fact that the USM is not a focal point on the sociopolitical, academic, economic and religious development of Sint Maarten and its inhabitants from its inception until the present is a direct indication of the fallacy of even the false concept of a separate status.
A university by implication of its very name means that as a result of the universal holistic educational material therein such an institution is in fact a nucleus point of social development for the global person and especially its own indigenous inhabitants.
Since the USM only caters to the Eurocentric view of education at present we can concur that the USM is in fact not a true University in the full sense of the word.
Because of this fact I must come to the only plausible conclusion left to a searching mind in this scenario, the USM is in fact not a truly Caribbean institution but it is an institution erected in the Caribbean by people with a Euro-American worldview which implies by dint of its establishment the idea that even though it is an institution in the Caribbean its primary function is to “train” Caribbean people to think from  a Eurocentric perspective which is totally antithetical to their further advancement as a civilization.
The very fact that the claim of a multicultural society is debunked in the very structure of the USM is food for thought for if it was truly multicultural the Sint Maarten perspective and experience would be included in its curriculum and it would not only be included it would in fact be uppermost.
The fact that an educational institution does take on the task of educating foreigners and acculturating them into the various cultural aspects of Sint Maarten as a nation with its own cultural, academic, spiritual heritage the very name University of Sint Maarten becomes a mockery and begs the question whose University is the USM?  . A university is the academic soul of a country without its soul an organism lacks morality and reasoning no wonder we have a total moral bankruptcy today as the institutions which purport to represent the people of Sint Maarten are in fact businesses that feed off of the created ignorance of the masses and it is because of this created ignorance that the people are kept in their condition of servant in their own land when they should be master and lord of their land and its resources.
This example can be observed in all institutions on the island and although this malady is the fault of no one in particular I now state the “conscious” generation of Sint Maarten will not accept and cannot continue to allow such to continue to exist lest we be found guilty by our ancestors for fratricide, and assisted self degeneration.
All of humanity has a universal right to elevate and exalt themselves and their progeny to the highest of levels possibly attainable Sint Maarteners as well.                                       That the masses are satisfied with their condition is of no concern to the serious scholar for true scholarship is a sword that can function as a physician’s knife in cutting out the cancerous maladies that plague our society and enact a healing process in the organism called Sint Maarten.
The above is a scientific psychoanalytical approach taking into account the fact that the so called Antillean is a non European existing in a European environment and he is as a result of his alien status and also as a result of his slave past and his present as a subject of a colony disposed and predisposed to a myriad of psychological and systemic ailments and pathologies some of which we will enumerate herein.
We must clarify here that these pathos are disastrous to both the European as well as the so called Antillean in their midst.
The document states that the foundation SXM outlines how the Eurocentric society enforces and creates a state where the so called Antillean and other non European groups must live in a state of repressed self expression that is internalized.
The so called allochtoon in Holland or vreemdeling “aliens” are also repressed in their self expression to the point of an inferiority complex being foisted upon them.
I will now translate precisely from the Dutch language to English what is written in Dutch in the above document (The document is a psychoanalytische rapport/ a psychoanalytical report) by Rolando Laurence.
Foundation SXM is against internalized domination and internalized repression and every form of discrimination, xenophobia and anti-Semitism.
It is our desire to not only function as a translation society from Dutch to Sint Maarten English and vice versa but we want to as it were create a virtual community center via the internet.
This virtual information center will function as a place where persons can be educated about the cultural differences between the Sint Maarten reality and their Dutch counterparts.
Currently the Dutch socialization model at work erodes the cultural component; we can observe in this an assimalitionist policy.
We would like to indicate here that an enforced assimilation reduces the importance and ability of the various ethnic groups to optimally contribute to society and a greater societal evolution.
The slow erosion of the cultural differences is namely a characteristic of the so called multicultural society.
As a result of the non articulation of the multicultural society by politicians, they have in fact reneged on their educational responsibilities.
As a result of the above hardly anyone discerns the difference between discriminatory and non discriminatory practices.
In the world of differences observable daily on our Television screens we can observe that people want their cultural differences to be acknowledged and respected.
The acknowledgement and acceptance of the fundamental right of every individual to be different is in all likelihood the greatest weapon that the international community has at its disposal today in order to avoid global societal chaos the principle of justice that protects individual rights it has been observed is best preserved in a democratic system of governance.
The term internalized domination will be explained here it dimishes feelings of empathy, love and the ability to be open to other peoples suffering or reality.
Internalized domination is the internalizing of the prejudices and presumptions of a dominant culture towards people of another culture i.e. in the case of a colonized society or an immigrant society.

Cultural Domination expresses itself in feelings of superiority and Narcissism it is also accompanied by feelings of denial of the reality of ones existence, projection, fear and guilt.
Cultural dominance maintains the domination of people and creates a process whereby everything outside of the dominant culture is either ignored or belittled.
Internalized repression is the internalization of feelings of inferiority by a colonized group of people or a migrant group.
It expresses itself in self hatred , an inferiority complex, a pronounced introvert character, feelings of powerlessness an inordinate fear of confrontation, and gratefulness towards the oppressor this the above described pathology preserves colonialist and neo-colonial systems in that the colonized have internalized an attitude of subservience
The Sualiga Youth has for years warned that the entire educational system on the island is in fact a post colonial system that is inherently geared towards the miseducation of Black Youth.
The present so called leaders are a class of people with Bourgeoisie pretensions they are imitators of Europeans and operate from a disadvantage they are in fact incapable of relating to the masses of people and can never relate to the youth who are the leaders of tomorrow how can the youth lead when they have been indoctrinated into a self hating mindset foisted upon them by a post colonial style of leadership that practices various forms of self destruction.
The new leader will be a man or woman imbued with an innate sense of duty and self sacrifice one who is not afraid to die for their ideals and one who is willing to put country above self in the attainment of the ultimate goal which is the independence of Sint Maarten from all colonial oppression.
A good example of what is meant by leaders with Bourgeoisie pretensions.
Some of these people are NAACP members like the woman sitting next to the bald man, the woman is Hazel Duke present president of the NAACP.
The event in question is the Carib News Conference.
The preeminent reason the newspaper article focused on was the garnering of funds for regional development.
The state of New York is said to have donated $30 million from its pension funds to invest in projects in the region.
No concrete information was given however pertinent neither to said investments nor to precisely what projects the funds was allocated and most importantly exactly which islands benefitted from the “investments”.
All these vague answers and nonspecific references are in fact a total waste of time when it comes to informing the public.
The entire exercise boils down to pretentious so called “bigwigs” rubbing shoulders with each other.
The NAACP is also historically an organization that functioned as a spy network for the FBI to in fact thwart the attempts of many black leaders to achieve human not civil rights.
We remain unimpressed with the NAACP as a serious political entity capable of a global representation of people of any races much less for people in the African Diaspora it was always and is still an organ largely dependent on white philanthropists and certain so called colored conservatives for its financial existence presently they enjoy support from Afro-American celebrities its global impact if any is minuscule.
I want to express here an aside as pertains to the larger African-American question.
The African Diaspora in America is looked upon as an example of progressivity whereas in the material sphere and financial spheres these people have attained great gains the intellectual capital of some these so called stars are in fact a detriment to the development of the global African psyche.
Their greatest achievements are marred by their frequent and often times criminally violent arrests from their athletes to their entertainers and even some of their “celebrity preachers “.
This development is quite alarming the African-American society has within it the capacity and capability to create a greater and wider African prosperity.
With the billions that the African American community has at its command schools and universities could be erected on the African continent and an agricultural program could be developed in order to stem the rising threat of starvation that threatens certain areas in the Delta region.
Also the NAACP for all its pretentions and pomp could if it so desired create a lobby group that could lobby its government to send in social workers and American  military and or UN personnel to crush the enforced system of slavery in the Sudan erected by Arab Muslims and kept in existence by Arab and African Muslims this insidious institution must be destroyed it has no place in the 21st century with the election of the knight of the likes of the NAACP Barack Obama , we will see if any program enacted by his administration will have any impact on the quality of life of the African on the continent and in the Diaspora.
The documents on the following pages are the organizations goals and aims I will refrain from a translation here as the goals have been numerated previously.

The following documents are all legal and will be translated herein and are offered as proof that the Sualiga Extraordinary Minds foundation is in fact the originator of the present government’s perceived newfangled awareness of Sint Maarten students in Holland and their attempt to coax them into returning to Sint Maarten upon completion of their studies.
On the following page is a letter drafted by a lawyer which the foundation Sualiga Extraordinary Minds hired.
In it he details his duties as per our organization and he also informs us that he contacted Linda Richardson of the SSSS as can be observed the letter is dated 26 September 2005.
The synopsis of said letter is this, the lawyer found that certain Sint Maarten students were in fact being dealt with unjustly and incorrectly whereby their rental contracts were being unduly terminated by their landlord.
Upon further investigation said landlord turned out to be none other than Linda S Richardson.
This is a documented fact by a professional organization of indigenous Sint Maarteners.
The Sualiga Youth has proven that the present government is in fact a tool of the colonial system and they are in fact unfit to lead Sint Maarten into the 21st century, the 21st century will be characterized by the development of human potential.
China is a great example of a 21st century government a government where the human potential is developed to such an advanced degree that, the human being becomes the actual purveyors of the societies greatness, in such a government the people are literally ambassadors of their society to the global community.
The just concluded Olympic Games are a prime example of such; the Chinese also highlighted their architectural prowess as was attested by their “Birds Nest”.
My point here is that in order for Sint Maarten to survive in the 21st century environment they will have to be even more cutting edge than their competition, you do not have to produce technology to achieve mastery of such, one only has to train young men and women who show such aptitude or willingness and send them out to countries where they can gain this type of experience, of course the present stance of not bringing them back to the island in order for the community to benefit from their training is in fact a practice of triage.
The present world financial crisis with its roots on Wall Street U.S.A is an example it is the beginning of the end of the so called one pillar economy of Sint Maarten which is dependent only on the dollars that North Americans bring to Sint Marten.
The service oriented culture that has characterized much of the Caribbean for generations is happily coming to an end.
Of course the so called leadership regionally is ill equipped to lead their people into the 21st century which is characterized by technology and nationalism.
The 21st century is the century of superior far reaching visionary technological advances and the harnessing of all natural resources of a country including and especially its people, as the primary purveyors of the survival and the prosperity of the nation.
Sint Maarten is ill equipped to function in the 21st century as a competitor to be recond with.
Frankly most Caribbean islands if not all of them are ill prepared to enter the new century as a force to be reckoned with in the geopolitical sphere.
As a result of their inferior position the islands will fall prey to large multinationals.
Already the global economic crisis will drastically affect the tourism economy or the culture of “servitude” that plagues the region.
The world is increasingly becoming knowledge intensive the Caribbean will also become a knowledge based economic entity focusing increasingly on intra-regional cooperation.
The tourism economy of today will cease to exist the old order of thinking amongst the leaders regionally is slowly being replaced with a new thinking amongst the enlightened youngsters of the region this is a positive development yet it has a glaring deficit that I will refrain from pointing out here.
The Caricom is an example of intracooperation the rice imports from Guyana to Jamaica is an occurrence that should be studied by all parties and emulated especially by the so called Antillean islands.
Intra Caribbean exchange should be encouraged such as student exchange programs regionally with the most brilliant and brightest of our people interacting on a learning intensive pro-Caribbean model emphasis should be placed by all governments regionally on the creation of a system whereby the best and brightest of our people are allowed to travel from island to island with as little restrictions as possible.
The criminal element can also be controlled by the introduction of an intra-regional database this can be done easily today because of technological advances including the internet.
The Independence of St Kitts and Nevis is an example of the progressive government of those nations Sint Marten can become independent it is only those with a Eurocentric Worldview who wish to keep Sint Maarten in bondage to Europe.
The American Hub Conference which convened on Barbados in 2008 was a very crucial event, the words of former Barbadian PM Owen Arthur are very telling and are worthy of being recorded in this work.
The former PM stated that “the Caribbean should look at re-structuring and developing new enterprise, with governments taking on an entrepreneurial role with the ultimate aim of achieving national development.
“The sooner attention is turned to initiatives to generate income and new enterprise, the sooner the system will return to stability and prosperity”.
The state should not continue to overprotect economic entities long after any evidence of their possible viability can be found, but should pursue regional economic integration, technological and institutional change, and new trade agreements to pursue opportunities in “sunrise” industries.
“The opportunity immediately ahead of us, in the face of the gravest challenges to ever confront our region, is that of implementing new forms of engagement in our global affairs, in our regional dealings and in our effort at domestic restructuring- all with a view to bringing new enterprise, new sources of income generation, and new ways of doing business in a region where all are sorely needed”.
The Prime Minister in fact validates most of what is being stated in this work as pertains to the challenges facing the region as whole, specifically as pertains to the development of new economic entities and intraregional cooperation.

The above is an article in the Daily Herald. The article documents the concerns of the students. The students,

state that the DutchEuropean teachers expect them to function as European students.

The Dutch European teachers are unwilling to integrate into our Caribbean culture.
The attitude described by the students is simply Eurocentric presumptuous attitudes that assert the supposed cultural superiority of Europeans over those that they are charged with educating.
How can one be expected to educate properly someone when one cannot identify with those you are charged with educating.
I can exhaust this issue but there are expert analytical reports written by various scientists, scholars and academicians that will back and prove the points that are being examined here.
In my book a sociopolitical cultural academic analysis of the educational system on Sint Maarten I go in depth into the entire system it is dissected and explained using the discipline of psychology.
In closing the educational system was developed out of a colonial system and colonialism was created to protect and aid and abet European imperialism.
The politicians on Sint Maarten are ill equipped to represent the Sint Maarten populace as they themselves are agents of and abettors of a post colonial system of subjugation and domination.
Here we see Louie Laveist under investigation for forgery.
The Dutch European system of government as pertains to the so called Netherlands Antilles and Sint Maarten in particular is a colonial imperialist system there is very little in the way of a democracy as has been ascertained by the attitude of the second chambers when it comes to the question on the status of so called “Country Sint Maarten”.
The fact that the Dutch neo-colonialists have begun to parade their local representatives of their system of government in the local media and are condemning them publicly and charging them with a myriad of crimes real and imagined should come as a surprise to no one.
These people have willingly participated in the subjugation of the people of Sint Maarten through their many corrupt practices and policies their treatment at the hand of their masters is acceptable to them, if they were indeed leaders in the true sense of the word they would have opted long ago for independence.
Today the Machiavellian jockeying for power now engaged in by the National Alliance Louie laveist and Theo Heyliger is a perfect example of failed leadership.
The type of leader both in opposition and the ruling party are in fact in increasing relic of the past.
The type of leader who encourages paternalism and tribalism nepotism and cronyism will in fact serve only to further the interests of foreign so called businessmen to the detriment of the local Afro-Caribbean populace.
The growing economic wealth of an Indian upper merchant class is a very dangerous development, as this group of persons are in fact a nation and a nationality unto themselves complete with a religion indigenous to themselves they are people entrenched in a caste system and are perfectly comfortable to exist in a self created social hierarchy here on Sint Maarten in fact many of the employment practices that they adhere to with respect to persons from their own country is downright slavery I am aware of this having witnessed this first hand.
The development of persons forming distinct communities on Sint Maarten and not contributing significantly to the infrastructural development of the island is unacceptable.
For instance merchant community enjoys a very lucrative trade here on the island yet their financial contributions into for cultural centers and social programs aimed at crime reduction is unheard of.
They are not entirely to blame the political culture of Sint Maarten is not a creation of these people it is in fact a creation of local politicians.
Yet this very culture is responsible for the deteriorating state of affairs seen today.
I predict here that global events and the increasingly intellect of the Afro-Sint Maartener will force transformation this will come about as a result of the plethora of information available to people today even those with a limited intellect will begin to question the system, hereby changing their voting habits and behavior.
Events like the first African American elected as president of the United States will also cause people regionally to view themselves in a more positive light the old arguments of the inferior intellect of Africans are being debunked globally, even on Sint Maarten the psychological effect of a black president is already being felt.
The desire to be independent will only be heightened by this type of development if Barack Obama can be president of the U.S.A. why can’t we define our own identity and destiny? Is the question that will begin to play in the collective psyche of many in the younger generation.

Theses negroes are simply careerists and not true public servants who do not see their role as one of nation building. Their main objective is to collect a salary, herein lies the self destructive nature of any system of governance not built on public service a true government develops a civilization that is self sustaining even after the death of its originators. A true system of governance can regulate itself, as its fundamental tenets are institutionalized through the process of jurisprudence.
Since all agree that Sint Maarten is neither a country nor a true democracy then what is the true status of our island its real status is that of an oligarchy.
The few ruling the majority through their hold on economic power that is the status of present day Sint Maarten.
The Dutch know this they are only waiting for enlightened leadership to emerge and point the way forward.
This is an example of blatant racism and cultural debasement.
This idiocy is represented on a yearly basis.
Christmas has no meaning to the Caribbean mind if it is depicted in this rancid racist manner.
This is an extreme form of cultural dominance or internalized domination.
This type of racism portrayed yearly in Dutch society was brought to light by certain Dutch artists who wanted to engage in an artistic examination of its negative effects on the society unfortunately the artists and the museum administration were threatened by extremist groups which led to the event being annulled.

John  Leerdam expects the so called Antilleans on the islands to accept laws that are also passed in the kingdom such as same sex marriages et al.
While every human being has the fundamental right as per the democratic model of governance to be different, and in fact the acceptance of not only same sex marriages but also Coffeshops in practice can also be implemented on Sint Maarten.
The question then becomes what is conducive to the betterment of a Dutch European culture has in the past proven to be detrimental to an African Caribbean culture therefore, the new and enlightened leadership can begin to lobby the U.N. in order to stem the social disaster which is sure to ensue at the enactment of the Dutch system of so called “tolerance”.
Their system of governance spells anarchy and destruction not only for Sint Maarten but will prove a spreading disease throughout the region.
Dutch European society must never be allowed to usurp the universal right of the Sint Maarten people to self governance.
Their system of imposing higher supervision points to their innate belief that we are in fact inferior to them and that we are to stupid to govern our selves the term “Stomme Antillean” is often heard uttered by certain arrogant imbeciles in Dutch European society.
We are more than ready to indepently govern ourselves the fight for independence must be taken to the United Nations where it can be fought legally with intellectual weaponry it is in this setting that Sint Maarten will be taken seriously.
Allowing local representatives of a colonial system to go to Holland and regurgitate a failed dream is an exercise in futility.
The only people who can articulate Sint Maartens true reality are in fact persons with an African centered Globalist perspective truly educated persons who are willing to sacrifice to the detriment and even loss of their very lives for the attainment of Independence.
There is no such thing as a country status without independence any talk of a country outside of owning your own land and controlling the economy of your country is in fact a fantasy and a gigantic fraud.
All of the previous offer proof of our infiltration even to the upper echelons of the Dutch government and our contacts within said system.
We are in fact an institution that has been involved in the active deprogramming of many Africans in the Diaspora for years.

Figure: This is the cover of the report compiled by the Sualiga Xtraordinary Minds team.
This is the report that we presented to commissioner of education Sarah Wescott Williams.
It is as a direct result of reading this report that the fullness of the students’ situation was understood by her and her compatriots.
I will include herein the entire report as the readership will gain a clear understanding as pertains to the sophistry and the advanced thinking employed by these Souligan students and professionals who compiled the report and conducted the meticulous scientific evidence necessary to compile such a report .
The disciplines of psychology, social cultural work, and political science were all employed to complete the surveys and then to compile this report, this report is a culmination of work from 1993 up till 2002.
The entire report will be included in the following chapter.

                                      CHAPTER TWO:
PURPOSE FOR OUR BURDEN OUR CONCERN.

Ladies and gentlemen:

The so called Antillean in Holland is being marginalized and discriminated against not only because they are so called buitenlanders but also because the Antillean is being used as a primary tool of advancement of the criminals that control the cocaine trade.
Any people who in large numbers in any community in the world will sell Crack Cocaine as a means of livelihood will always be despised and looked upon as men of little or no worth at all.
The Sualiga Youth is an organization consisting of youth and young people from Sint Maarten who seek to provide adequate information to people from Sint Maarten studying in Holland.
Our information consists of Black Awareness, material and self help material.
Our organization is an organization geared toward the betterment of the social position of youngsters in our communities through training and mentorship programs, this we did successfully for many years in Groningen.
The Sualiga Youth Extraordinary Minds is not in anyway an organization with any political agenda neither are we remotely revolutionary by any stretch of the imagination.
A revolutionary movement is a movement geared towards the violent overthrow of government; government can keep their perceived position of power.
Sualiga Extraordinary Minds has taken time to clarify our stance in order to expose certain unfounded statements made by our traducers.
The SSNa has been disbanded yet we see the so called government representatives for Sint Maarten students in Holland forcing students out of housing to make room for those coming in August this simply means that the situation is unchanged .
Many people within our community complain that there are no jobs the government won’t give them work.
No people on earth should be dependent upon another for their sustenance.
Our people should try as much as possible to live within the framework of their own communities. In Holland the so called Antillean has every fundamental right to control their own destiny and direction just as other ethnicities and cultures do in Holland.
The only way to curb and curtail the crime associated with Antillean youth be it petty or great is for the community to act as a village and police itself.
The youth are in need of persons from their own experience who can inform them of relevant issues as pertains to their stay in Holland.
We are trying to combat the twin evils of drugs and alcohol the youth are being destroyed for commercial gain, this destruction of our children must be fought.
The students are faced with a myriad of difficulties all of which can be eliminated with information.
The only problem that cannot be eliminated with information is the housing situation in Holland, it cannot be eliminated but it can be alleviated.
We also provide legal advice and information to students concerning their plight in the social context that comprises Europe.
Europe is a society that is gendered towards the socialization of human beings into certain patterns and ways of thinking and living called normen en warden, or norms and values all of the European norms and values may not be suited to the Caribbean psyche Sualiga Extraordinary Minds will begin a process of elimination of certain myths and propagate factual information backed by judicial material that will serve as a buffer
To the now encroaching erosion of the civil liberties of young Sint Maarteners living working and studying in Holland.
The so called Antilles will soon cease to exist we see that Holland is moving to eradicate some of the people from their country that are non productive and criminal.
This is a good thing if the government moves to include students in this policy then we will be dealing with a form of discrimination.
The Sualiga Extraordinary Minds Foundation is not political in our goals we nonetheless advocate an independent Sint Maarten.
A freethinking society will remain a free society that is the mark of a civilized society if society deliberately does not promote freethinking this society is arbitrarily a totalitarian regime.
Sint Maarten is an autocracy it is unarbitrarily ruled by a foreign merchant class comprised largely of Brahmins of Aryan Indian descent today they are called today they are called Hindu’s these people decide largely the economic life in this society the other ruling classes are the European Nationals, and the Asians that comprise the business sector .
There is no large Caribbean conglomeration of business entities here on the island.
Who ever controls the economic in a society controls the destiny of the country, this is the reason African-Caribbean youth specifically local Africans of the Diaspora are targeted for extermination in our own communities, we are nor representative of those that donate large sums of money to politicians to fund their election campaigns.
In effect the government of Sint Maarten is dependent on people of a different value system for their economic sustenance.
We have seen many abuses of local youth in the past our youth have been deluded by the image of Hollywood and have become young predators, in our own society murdering our peers in unprecedented numbers.
We the visionary and the ones who are destined to lay aside our own illusions for the advancement of our society we must spare nothing.
Education is our weapon we are the advance guard of a new society the creators of a New society founded on our true culture, and we pledge loyalty to each other and the flag of independence.

1: Dominant Element refers to students who exercise great influence in the school system.

2: Neutral Element refers to students that are in essence chameleon like they display the uncanny ability to maintain their own identity.
Not being pressured by any group they usually of their own volition will maintain aloofness to all groupings these students usually move alone.
They do however unite when they perceive this as a self-preservation tactic these students are also very influential in the school hierarchy.

3: The weaker element these students are at the mercy of all groups and are easily influenced either positively or negatively.

                                      Synopsis Thesis:

In the animal kingdom, the weaker animals are dominated by the strongest.
The dominant factor will ensure the continued preservation of the species.
The dominant factor exists in the animal kingdom for a variety of reasons.
We will examine one these and the process by which animals of a particular group will mate with the most healthy and fertile females in the same group, hereby ensuring the preservation of the species.
Hence the reason there must exist a Dominant Element and the weak element in the animal kingdom.
Armed with this knowledge one can better comprehend the reason for a stronger and weaker element on every level of existence.
In human relations, there is always a group or an individual who because of their dominant personality will attempt to manipulate the focal point of people’s attention, so that it is focused on them.
Usually the majority defers to this person or group. In a class setting where the majority of student’s attention is focused not on the instructor but on an individual or a group of individuals, it is extremely difficult for students to learn in such an atmosphere.
Such an atmosphere is very disconcerting to the serious instructor, since he or she will be vying with the dominant element, in the school context I refer to them as the dominant culture.
The other students are the weaker or neutral elements.
This entire thesis is based on my own personal research using a group of students from the M.P.C. whose progress was traced for a period of four years.
My research culminated in Groningen amongst the Antillean students where I was personally involved with students on a day to day basis, as a social cultural volunteer worker with the not for profit foundation Forsa.

CHARACTER TRAITS OF THE DOMINANT ELEEMENT:
1: These students are usually feared by the other students or greatly respected.
2: They are extremely popular everyone seems to want to be like them.
3: They are usually the most aggressive students.
4:  The Dominant Element can always be separated from the rest of the students because of their constant jockeying for attention which in essence translates to control and inadvertently literally means that they have power in the class setting.
5: In matters of class disturbance they are usually the ringleaders.
6: The female students often admire dominant males, which results in other males desiring to be affiliated with the dominant males, this translates yet again to power in the school hierarchy.
7: In sport activity they are overly aggressive displaying a great desire to win at all costs.

CHARACTER TRAITS OF THE NEUTRAL ELEMENT:

1:  They are often times aloof.
2:  Since they seldom allow themselves to be dominated, they are among the more creative and expressive of the student not necessarily because they are less inhibited.
3: They are ostracized by the dominant element for their seemingly more efficient intellect.
CHARACTER TRAITS OF THE WEAKER ELEMENT ARE:

They have little or no say in the decision making process of the class.
2: They are usually open to suggestions and will frequently imitate the Dominant Element, the dominant students are aware that these students are

  1. Money being taken from them.
  2. Food being taken from them.
  3. Sometimes even jewelry and clothing.
In the eyes of the dominant culture this solidifies their hold to power since little or no resistance was offered.
As we have seen taking into account the role the dominant element play in the school hierarchy we can conclude that this plays a great role in the development of the instructor.
Since the dominant element maintain a great  influence on the thought processes of the other students by the various means which I described above, it then becomes apparent how this can impair the instructors ability to hone his or her skills in effect creating a sort of academic stagnation.
Now the serious instructor may want to know how he or she can successfully contain and control their class environment.
We will address this subject taking into account the environment outside the school setting, and its effect on the student’s ability to function in class.
In a restructured system of education, the students can be regarded on an individual and not on a collective basis.
While it is fact that not all human beings are possessed of the same acumen it is safe to concur that on the high school and collegiate level especially in the last grades the students are on the same level academically.
I have alluded to this fact only to better address the question on how the instructor can better contain and control their class environment.
The present system of education is in dire need of a total reinvention, as it is barely meeting the needs of those it is supposed to educate.
If an alternative is sought to the above mentioned trend the collective classroom can be considered as a model for the classroom of the future.
If students think that they are learning from the instructors as well as from one another and that they are a part of a larger combine which is society.
This collective group learning will engender in the students a larger group identity with their fellow classmates more in the sense of being a member of a team.
                                            CAMPUS POLITICS.

There is a system of behavior on campus called campus politics this behavior manifests itself in many different ways a certain student may express a desire to be affiliated with the dominant element.
This is hardly ever expressed verbally, more than likely these students will go to extremes to fit in, or to imitate those that he or she is attempting to be associated with.
When students lower in the hierarchy begin to express this desire to be affiliated with students higher in the hierarchy, the dominant types will be more receptive towards them this leads to an initiation process into the dominant culture.
In order to provide the reader with a clear understanding of what is meant by the hierarchical system in the school in the school environment.
I will borrow a description from the Webster Dictionary, a group of person or things arraigned in order of rank, grade, class etc.
In the hierarchy, there are certain individuals with a great deal of influence on the other students.
For instance, if the hierarchy, members dress in a certain fashion, then we sometimes witness a rush amongst the vast majority of the school age population to imitate theses top hierarchy members.
Those at the top of the hierarchy are what I refer to as the dominant culture.
More often than not most of the students will not be able to because of various means namely the inability of their parents to afford the expensive designer sneakers and clothing of their peers.
The above is a prime example of acculturation are a pair of nike shoes a prerequisite to a quality education what does a pair of sneakers have to do with ones ability to perform in an academic setting?, there is absolutely no correlation between fashion and intelligence yet in today’s society we can observe daily youth being pressured to conform to the culture of excess adopted out of the American urban culture.
The entire Hip-Hop scene is the driving force behind the culture prevalent today in the schools here on the island.
This culture is in fact an imported culture and is not indigenous to the Caribbean it is also a destructive culture as is evinced by the numerous “unexplainable” violent incidences between school children on Sint Marten.
The gang culture now prevalent on Sint Maarten is as a direct result of youth adopting the culture of their North American urban cousins.
In the present system of education some students are considered to be more important than others.
This attitude is even displayed by certain instructors this creates a sense of animosity amongst the students.
The type of learning environment described above is not a healthy leaning environment; steps should be taken to eradicate this impediment.
In some instances we have students on a campus from various ethnic backgrounds that are all different in socialization and sometimes even in manner of dress than the norm.
The manner of socialization of such students in the present                                                  system of stems from, the materialistic outlook both in the academic sphere, and in the environment that the students themselves inhabit i.e. their homes.
The incidence of individuals assaulting other students and school faculty is as a direct result of the inability of not only the school faculty, but also the government officials in charge of education to relate to the students and to invent a plan of action that can successfully contain and control the environment of the students in school.
If students are running amok on a campus the problem is as a direct result of the educators not being able to condition their charges to acclimate themselves to a higher standard of thinking rather than the degraded and debauched Hollywood imagery that the students are fed daily on television screens and other media.
The students are young people their home situation is also a factor in the conditioning behavioral patterns on campus.
Since it is a certain type of person creating the type of environment their fellow students must exist in, in the school setting.
The above described scenario indicates an out of control school environment and
And is a macrocosm of our out of control society.
Should youth be left up to themselves to run amok in society?, youth are not leaders in society adults are and in the school system the bosses and leaders are the instructors therefore it is their duty and right to create an academic environment that would be conducive to the development of their charges to their greatest potential.
The mandate of the true educator is the optimum development of the talents and capabilities of their students hereby equipping them to rule their country for the further advancement of all its people.
If an educational institution fails in its primary duty then it is merely a business.
Since the system of education on Sint Maarten is extremely business oriented and not people oriented how then can one expect the students to portray a more humane attitude when in fact they are being educated in a results driven environmnment where competition and not cooperation is stressed?
Since the present system of education is counterproductive it must be abandoned for a more productive approach.

                           THE ENVIRONMENT OUTSIDE THE SCHOOL.

The environment outside the school also plays a great role in the development of the students I will go into detail concerning this environment and the dynamics involved.
The environment outside the school consists of the immediate family house or apartment where students live.
If the parents of a student are religious religion will also be an ingredient in their environmental makeup.
The wider society will also be a contributing factor in the environmental makeup of the students.
The most pressing social ills that re contributing to the dysfunction of most students are poverty, dysfunctional families, a poor diet, a lack of positive role models, drug abuse, the adaptation of Hip-Hop and gang culture.
Many students are coming to the classroom unprepared and lacking a mental diagram of the rudiments of academics.
All of the above mentioned variables complicate the teaching learning process.
Students who fit into this last category I mentioned earlier are called in contemporary human psychological terms an at risk youth.
Since many students fit into this category, we advocate the collective class structure.

PROPOSAL FOR A COLLECTIVE CLASS STRUCRTURE.
Before we go into detail about the collective class environment, I will attempt to demonstrate how this is presently being executed in a country with one of the greatest pass ratios worldwide.
The country iam alluding to is Japan, Iam not suggesting here that we imitate the Japanese, I raise the point to show that the collective class exists, and it is a suitable model to meet the needs of a non European culture.
The word collective means as a group taken as a whole.
The collective class is characterized by cooperation according to studies conducted in the USA classes with little or no student cooperation faired worse than those with a high incidence of student cooperation.
Cooperation is also a means of instituting a sense of community and building all these are nation building principles, these principles are fundamental concepts of civilized society.
The European principles of “over emphasized competition and domination” are uncivilized.
The European values described above are destructive to the emotional well being of non Europeans and should be discontinued.
Currently in countries such as Holland where most of the students from Sint Maarten are sent to further their studies it has been noted by the sualiga Youth that these students are experiencing high rates of stress and a feeling of hopelessness as a result of not being able to cope with the system of education in Holland.
Since the students from Sint Maarten are largely of African descent it follows that they are right brained oriented thinkers.
The right side of the brain is in charge of noting similarities between things and their relation to each other and the whole thus unifying them.
This mode of thinking is what is referred to scientifically as synthetic, holistic, congregative et. al.
The European classroom is structured to deal with left brain oriented cultures which is the exact opposite of what is required to adequately train and educate a non European.
The reason for illuminating this fundamental difference in approach is to say this.
Once the collective class is adopted, there will be more students’ cooperation in such a setting, if some students lag behind the rest of the class academically the other students will of their own volition assist the lagging students in their area of weakness.
All this will come about as a result of the perception of the students of belonging to a group, their identity will not be any longer in the view of themselves as an individual only but as part of a cohesive group called the class and the wider student body and we can then correlate this to the society at large.
In such an atmosphere far less attention grabbing tactics will be observed.
One might ask why the attention grabbing tactics would be less frequent in a collective class environment the need to belong will be fulfilled in a collective classroom.
Since the present system of education is turning out fewer and fewer graduates who are actually equipped with the knowledge of how to apply their education we see no reason why the educators, government and school boards of Sint Maarten would not move to eradicate such a system .
And create a new system of education which will deal with the system of education from a perspective of the advancement of civilization and not the churning out of so called diplomas.
Since upon arrival back to Sint Maarten from their studies abroad we can observe the students are hard pressed to secure gainful employment in their particular field of study.
Since the students are the majority of unemployed here on the island it follows that there is no system in place for them to advance themselves in on the job market which is the next logical step after having received their diploma.
In its present state the educational system is outmoded and barely able to meet the needs of those it is attempting to educate.
While the environment outside the school setting can contribute negatively or positively to the developmental process of a particular student and although the instructor cannot control it he or she can influence.

HOW INSTRUCTORS CAN INFLUENCE A STUDENTS ENVIRONMENT OUTSIDE THE SCHOOL.
1: Instructors should not refer to projects that must be done at home as homework, referring to this type of activity as homework infers that the students must work or toil this translates as something that is tedious and boring this description is of course from the students perspective.

2:The punishment that is meted out to students is cruel and meticulous if not totally useless, making a student copy some phrase and or rules a hundred times or more is a sad waste of everyone’s time not to mention how stationary is wasted funds are also wasted .
This form of punishment is environmentally irresponsible.

3: If punishment is to be, meted out for a particular infraction such as an incomplete project the student should be made to remain after school and complete the project or study for one or more upcoming tests this form of punishment is three tiered in that it conserves on resources, it is much more environmentally sound, and it also stimulates development in the student.

4: After school programs such as study groups and debating clubs and literary societies should be developed.

5: Creating student work programs not (job training) a student work program is a program developed by students themselves and it is an all year program, this program is also a normal aspect of their education.

6: Students in a student work program will be working together in a joint venture of their own creation this will function as a normal business, in addition it can involve any activity that they students want to engage in as far as a business venture is concerned.
In this program, entrepreneurship will be developed at an early stage in their lives in that they never achieve their perceived goal of a diploma they will yet have the necessary tools to survive in today’s society .
Students occupied in the manner described above will have a tendency to shun gang activity.
Students who must complete “homework” and are left with an inordinate amount of time on their hands will on the other hand tend towards being vulnerable to being influenced by peers to become involved in various degrees of gang activity even a peripheral involvement institutes a “right” of the gang to initiate a person be it willingly or unwillingly.

                        ON MULTICULTURALISM:
Iam aware that a particular phrase is being used to describe the society in which we live whether this is being done out of ignorance or because of a lack of a better term is as yet unclear to me.
The term Iam alluding to is the term multicultural.
The aim here is not to prove or disprove whether or not Sint Maarten is a multicultural society.
We have lightly touched on the subject as a means of weaving it into our main thesis, and in so doing raise a very valid point if we are indeed living in a multicultural society why are we not receiving a multicultural education?
The type of education available in institutions of learning is one sided and biased especially in the area of history what is being taught is European history as Europe relates to the rest of the world .
Since we live in a “multicultural society” what should be taught is world history as it relates to the Caribbean since we live in the area called the Caribbean.
A truly multicultural education will engender a high level of tolerance amongst today’s youth for people of a different ethnic background and heritage.
They will then be able to better understand and appreciate the contribution of diverse cultures `and they will be able to identify the contributions of all cultures to world history in general and human development in particular.
The so called educators are doing the youth a disservice and they stagnate the growth of the society, if they conduct education in such a manner as to give the impression that Europe is the fountainhead of all knowledge and the rest of the world was colonized and then “civilized” by Europeans.
A cursory glance at true world history and Caribbean history will show that Africa was the epicenter of all learning in the ancient world with Timbuktu being the first known center for advanced education.
Scholars from every major European country including the Greeks came to Europe to be educated.
The entire Pythagorean theory the model for the modern algebra is a plaigerization from the ancient Egyptians who were the real inventors of Algebra.
All cultures that are non European preceded Europeans in their technological advancement in anciency.
Neither Europe nor North America are the leaders in the areas of science and mathematics, these areas of modern human endeavor are dominated by the Japanese.
RELIGION AND ITS IMPACT ON THE YOUTH.
Is religion having an impact on the youth today? In order to answer that question we must understand what role religion plays in our society today and how it relates to the young people within the society.
Mainstream religion in this society is mainly of Christian Judaeo origin.
Since the majority of the adult population profess some form of belief in the Christian Judaeo concept of deity whether they are practicing Christians or not.
We can concur that their offspring will be exposed to their religious beliefs.
A cursory glance at the society of Sint Marten will prove that the Christian religion has not made a great impact on the youth today particularly young males.
The belief system that has made a great impact directly and indirectly on the youth today particularly young African males is the culture of Rastafari.
While this particular faith derives tenets from the Christian Judaeo bible the belief in and of itself is not the main attraction for many of the youth.
The main attraction for many of the youth is thnegrouyp culture that is experienced within Rastafari.
We will not go into detail concerning this faith; the core of our points here is to give the reader a clear understanding of why the faith of Rastfari is attractive to many youth today.
This particular way of life encourages a group identity, teaching it’s adherents that they aren’t so called West Indians but they are part of a larger ethnic structure namely Africa.
We refuse to use the word race in its purely scientific form.
The word race pertains to any species that is unable to mate or reproduce with another because of genetic objections this is clearly not the case with human beings.
The impact of this faith is largely as a result of the appeal of learning about oneself as a normal part of life.

SINT MAARTEN HISTORY AND ITS POTENTIAL IMPACT ON YOUTH.
History as a subject is taught in most schools on the island, European history is taught, Caribbean history is taught from a Eurocentric perspective, and the period in history known as the Atlantic Slave Trade is also taught. There are no courses offered on Sint Maarten history and culture, nor are there any courses on African history prior to the Atlantic Slave Trade taught in any academic institution on the island.
The study of Sint Maarten history from an African in the Diaspora perspective and not from a European academic perspective will serve as a nationalizing experience wherein Sint Maarten students will identify with the island in ways which were previously impossible and deliberately discouraged by the system of colonialism.
The rich oral historical tradition on Sint Maarten should also be taught in order to define Sint Maarten linguistic syntax, this will also aid in the study of etymology locally.
There was an uprising of Africans in Marigot why is this not taught in schools?
Archeologist’s also unearthed evidence of a free society of Africans who freed themselves from the yoke of slavery and established a settlement in the area they referred to as over the pond.
The library at the USM although it is at present under construction should warehouse a variety of literature pertaining to the history of Sint Maarten, its linguistic traditions and its cultural heritage.
At present the only piece of literature that I have personally come across that has attempted to highlight Sint Maarten historical, cultural linguistic heritage is National Symbols of Sint Maarten.
What Iam agitating for here is a much more in depth study in fact Iam openly saying textbooks should be developed wherein children can study the history of Sint Maarten.
Carlos Cooks the most celebrated Garveyite next to Marcus Garvey, is known all over the globe from New York to the Dominican Republic people know of a man called Carlos Cooks even in Holland one can purchase books about Carlos Cooks I have yet to see a bookstore or the Jubilee library offering a copy of his autobiography.
This is a disheartening situation how can a historical giant that changed the face of American Urban culture be deleted from the history of his island, it is this type of self defeating Eurocentric life that is astonishing, I can find books about idiots like Hitler and Columbus anywhere on Sint marten but I cannot find one piece of literature pertaining to the man who coined the phrase “buy black”, he eradicated the pimps from downturn Harlem for the period that he lived there , he ran out the Italian Mafia and disrupted there heroine distribution network out of “downtown” Harlem.
Carlos Cooks was the first person to stage an all African queen pageant.
The whole Black is beautiful cultural aesthetic really began with this man; his many achievements are all chronicled in the book Carlos Cooks.
It is a travesty that this great historical giant has been “whited out” of official history on Sint Maarten.

THE INFORMATION SUPERHIGHWAY:
That the world is moving towards a new order is apparent especially in the field of communications.
Global advancements in the field of telecommunications coupled with the sophisticated technological advances of the past ten years, points to the fact that we are most certainly in anew age technologically.
Students in this new information age will not be able to exist in such an advanced society if certain changes are not made in the next five years and by changes we mean the dismantling and total restructuring of education as we know it.
If the so called leaders of tomorrow are not given the tools that they will need to successfully lead then one can only speculate as to what type of society we will be living in.
We are living in the 21st century and the rest of the industrialized world has long since abandoned outdated modes of learning.
The youth in this society will have to be better informed on all matters pertaining to human development in the social and global arenas.
Intellectual development amongst youth can be stimulated.
Ways of stimulating intellectual growth amongst today’s youth have already been discussed in previous chapters.

A SYSTEM OF TRACKING.
A system of tracking is a method whereby those responsible for helping students to get there in the first place can observe students abroad.
The responsible party in most instances is government, educators, parents and students alike should be equally responsible in living up to their responsibilities within the whole process.
Presently there is no organized body or persons with the knowledge and expertise able to assist the Sint Maarten students coming to Holland from Sint Maarten.
A system of tracking allows one to observe how well the students are performing academically and if they are about to change their major.
The relevant authorities would be alerted of such a development, and then measures could be taken to accommodate the students and to find the reason for such a change.
If the student is making a wise decision or a hasty decision based on financial or social conditions the tracking system will be able to determine how to optimally advise and guide such a student.
In such a system, students will be working directly with those responsible for their scholarship financing.
In this way, government will be assured that their financial investment is being put to its intended use.

WHY SHOULD ENGLISH BE THE LANGUAGE OF INSTRUCTION?
English is the most spoken language in the world today besides Chinese one clear reason that English should be the language of instruction is on the level of communication, the students should be taught English so that they can effectively communicate with the global community.
You might raise the very valid point that most students will never have the opportunity to interact with people physically on a global scale.
Because of the internet E commerce is now an option to the running of a business from the privacy of your how.
Incidentally most of the best equipped programs are in English I stress on English as it is the language of international business (trade and commerce).
In most countries of the industrialized world, it is a main subject.

LOBBYING GOVERNMENT.
Since the students contend that they are an endangered species as an indigenous people group, facing social and economic extinction.
In order to secure their own interests it would be in their best interest to form a lobbying system and think talks.
The lobby group should elect out of its body a specific group that busies itself with the task of lobbying on the behalf of students through the means of petitions, all petitions should be signed by a majority.
The consistence of the lobbying system will prove to be more effective on the student’s behalf and will ensure a larger portion of the student population actually being able to function as part of the workforce on the island in their specific field of study.
The task of a think tank is to develop and bring about marked social change.
The manner in which a think tank can change the destiny of the average Sint Maartener is by equipping them with the necessary tools geared toward the betterment of the student population and their present relationship with government.
The students are not seen as a human capital investment by government nor are they treated as such.
The average student on this island is ill equipped to cry on his or her cultural or economic heritage as the means of control is not in their hands.
The student in the real sense of the word is one who is trained in they art of development of society to its highest form.
The present situation is diametrically opposed to the aims and goals of a real education.

AN EXAMINATION OF THE STATE OF EDUCATION ON SINT MAARTEN:
IT’S PRESENT STATE OF ACCUTE CRISIS AND ITS ORIGINS
This is an article from one of the local media publications on Sint Maarten.
This scenario has become the norm on Sint Maarten.
Some months one can see scenes of groups of youth all over the island some in uniforms and others in plain clothes fighting either on or outside school premises.
I live in the St Peters area and have witnessed such scenes myself.
Since the institutions of education are witnessing these types of scenes regularly I call this an acute crisis not only in the context of the school environment, but it is also a social pathology.
It has its roots in the youth culture that has been adapted by the youth of today.
What is dominant youth culture today what informs the youth culture of our day?
The above scene looks like something from a jailhouse not a school house since students are bringing this type of material to school with them one must first examine their culture.
The popular culture of our day is Hip-Hop culture any doubt as to this assertion can be quickly dispelled by a simple listen to CNN, BET, FOX, or even our local television channels.
All over the world Hip-Hop is a dominant musical art form.
I will like to state here for the record that I am not against Hip-Hop culture.
In its earliest stages Hip-Hop began as a culturally, and socially conscious movement, that sought to inform as well as educate youth on various aspects of their existence in relation to the globe. (Metaphysics) an aspect of the culture was developed by KRS ONE called edutainment using entertainment as a tool of education, therefore intrinsically Hip-Hop culture attempts to educate enmasse what is its core message then?
The core message of Hip-Hop culture was intrinsically self reliance relying on self instead of governments and an inherently racist educational system, I speak of a racist educational system chiefly in the context of the experience of the African in America although the same is applicable here on Sint Maarten and throughout the region.
I must make a distinction here for the benefit of the genuine Hip-Hop culture Rap music culture is not in and of itself Hip-Hop culture even though rap borrowed heavily from Hip-Hop and is in a sense a delinquent child of Hip-Hop it is yet a different art form and I want to give Hip-Hop culture its just due in that I distinguish Rap culture from Hip-Hop culture.
As I stated previously Hip-Hop is a socially conscious culture it is also politically conscious, it not only uses the spoken word to achieve its end it uses fashion, and an art form unique to Hip-Hop called tagging graffiti is not tagging and tagging is not graffiti, Hip-Hop also uses fashion to achieve its end.
The actual culture that the majority of our youth are living today is Rap culture.
Rap culture decides the way they dress, speak, think, and relate to their peers their family and society at large.
Rap culture is not socially conscious nor politically conscious Rap culture is a street oriented culture, which is a “gang-friendly culture” Rap culture has been informed by and in some cases in certain rap groups such as the outlawz of whom Tupac Amaru Shakur was a founding member, certain rap groups are in fact actual Gangs period.
In the case of the M.O.B. rap clique which was in fact a Damu set Damu is the Swahili word for Blood, anyone familiar with L.A. will know that it is the home of the infamous Bloods and Crips gang.
Why am I examining American gang culture and Rap music specifically gangster rap in conjunction with education on Sint Maarten, it is precisely the culture of “Gangster Rap” that is the influence and purveyor of the lifestyle that is being perpetuated by our youth today globally as well as locally.
No one in particular can be blamed in this scenario Iam not indicting a defunct educational system Iam illuminating youth culture which in fact is “Gangster rap culture”, and within that analysis I want to give educators who can grasp the significance of what Iam doing a tool to combat the influx of gang culture by way of the vehicle of music and now technology as a result of the internet gang culture is now a “global culture of influence”, introducing this culture as entertainment this is death perpetuated by gigantic multinationals for the bottom-line money.
The youth on the island of Sint Maarten are in fact victims of corporate greed, unequipped with the sophistication necessary to distinguish between fact and fiction the youth have adopted a culture out of ignorance and are in fact being used by both the corporate pirates in the USA and some of the local clothing outlets on the island.
This critical examination of youth culture must be done in order to understand their mindset only then can you even attempt to teach them.
The culture of Gangster Rap stems directly out of the prison and gang culture of the African American prison culture and gangs, therefore ipse facto gangsta-rap is street culture and a glorification of prison culture.
Through the medium of BET and MTV and Rap music CD’s and videos the youth have been “acculturated” into the culture of consumption of North America which is inherently a culture that promotes excess , and reveres material things over spirituality .
The youth can hardly be blamed as they are in fact being “ educated” by people who themselves are of a similar bent as themselves as many of their educators are in some instances that I have personally observed suffering from the same pathologies as themselves, pathologies inherited from a system that is inherently alien to them.
I will now expound on certain terms and phrases often used in the language of our youth.
A snitch is someone who betrays the trust of their peers by revealing to anyone outside of their peer group the inner workings of the group.
The word snitch is in fact a term used by criminals to indicate someone who “informs” the police of the activities of criminals.
The police are given many names and titles all of which are terms and phrases invented by criminals.
The culture of violence that the youth have adopted is also an explicit aspect and part of the character of Gangsta Rap, this artforms also uses fashion to export its culture as well as music the actual culture being exported is not music but it is gang culture.
Take for instance the clothing line G-unit a very popular clothing line globally the G stands for Gang unit it can be said it refers to the police gang unit and the point can be debated, but the individual who owns the clothing line 50 cent is a self avowed gangster .
Since the very culture that many of our youth have adopted as their own is inherently a product of prison life and gangsterism then it should not come as a surprise to any one that the culture is manifesting itself on school campuses.
The only way to combat this is to hire professionals equipped with an understanding of the global culture of gangsterism and to allow them to equip the institutions of government, schools, and the public and private sectors to deal with the crisis.
Persons with a local background and from the actual neighborhoods where the youth actually live should be preferentially hired, the reason for such being locals will have an affinity with the youth that foreign personnel will not have also the acclimation process that a foreign person must go through seeing that they are in a strange environment will be eliminated with the hiring of local professionals.
The actual crisis is much deeper for it is part and parcel of the fallout from unchecked consumerism; the myriad social pathologies inflicted upon humanity by the system of imperialism are having far reaching effects today.
We can observe today throughout the region young men slaughtering each other in unprecedented numbers.
This development should be frightening to all the tendency of Caribbean leaders to wait for the answer to come from their North American and European messiahs will fail them.
At this juncture in the collective development of a regional policy the leadership, by leadership I mean political leaders, as well as clergy, educational leaders, business and civic leaders as well as NGO’s will have to all work together towards the insurance and the prosperity of the region, if this is not done the region will be plunged into extreme chaos, and terror the likes of which the region will take years to recover from.
Reason why a totally new classroom culture will have to be created, towards that end I have introduced the collective class structure which is only a model and a prototype if others can create a more efficient model this will be welcomed by my person as it will only contribute to the furtherance of a greater civilization regionally.
In this work I have asserted that the system of education on Sint Maarten is an offshoot of a colonial legacy.
I have also stated that the institution of colonialism is inherently anti those it has colonized i.e. the entire African population of Sint Maarten.
The system of education as it is presently structured cannot but offer pyrrhic success to any individual that it attempts to educate.
It is inherently a failure as it was from its inception forced upon an unwilling and ignorant people its primary function was to “acculturate” Africans and poor whites into a socially agreeable pattern of living and thinking compatible with a post-colonial policy enacted in The Hague.
What I have enumerated throughout this book is corroborated by experts internationally, regionally, and globally.
I will introduce here certain facts and statements presented in The Education Summit of 2004. August 19-20th, 2004 held on Sint Maarten.
I want to direct attention in this part of the work to the lecture given by drs Stanley Lamp on “The Structure and Evolution of the Education System of the Netherlands Antilles.
In the introduction he enumerated four vital aspects of the education system on Sint Maarten.
They are as follows 1: the role and task of the education system in the community.
2: The relationship of the education system with the local and international community.
3: The influence of the economic, social-cultural and political structure on the education system.
4: The relationship between our mind-setting and our choices concerning the further development of the education system.
He stated “If you do not know your past you are doomed to repeat it”. How fitting indeed.
He also showed the periods of the development of the system from the 17th century to the present.
He detailed the 1845 policy of the government i.e. Holland as pertained to education on the island of Curacao.
He states the following “ Most of the schools were Catholic schools, as a consequence of missionary activities of mgr Niewindt’s work was the Christianizing of the people, including the slaves and the freed people . Girls and colored persons also got some education”.
He further states the “Antillean education system which in 1816 started with a government school, a public, became at the end of the century rather a Catholic education system”.
Here this gentleman who has 42 years experience or more in the field of education shows that we indeed have an educational system that stems out of not only colonialism but also Roman Catholicism which is an institution that attempts to dictate to the worlds governments and population by postulating itself primarily as a religious institution when in fact it is a nation with its own capital the Vatican City and it ruler is called a pope.
Here we can see two powers taking control of the education of former slaves and attempting on the one hand to “Christianize” them and on the other hand “:Europeanize” them.
Lamp then went on from 1816 to 2002: I find it quite interesting to note that he had this to say.
2002:  In this year the Antillean community started with the implementation of Foundation Based Education. One can say with a certain amount of pride that by implementing this form of education, the Netherlands Antilles for the first time in its education history paved its own path, without taking into account Dutch or other developments in the field of education which in the past were relevant  intervening and determent factors”.
He went on to state Evolution and reforming: from a process of copying and mental dependence to interdependence and autonomy: a question of self consciousness and emancipation.
He further noted that “Based on the information provided so far, one can easily draw the conclusion that the Antillean dealing with his education not only sticks to the Dutch developments he also caters to the belief that by copying these developments he will guarantee a better life for his progeny and his people’
The above is a validation of what I have been stating all along that on Sint Maarten we never had an educational system that is a creation of the Sint Marten mind that is liberated what we have always dealt with was the “hand me down version” the copycat model is now unable to cater to the needs of those it is supposed to educate I stand vindicated in my statements and assertions by the statements of the good Mr. Lamp.
The entire report of the government in fact vindicates me and it also indicts them in their, criminal negligence of the youth of this society, the fact that no teacher presently or previously has ever thought to begin the process of dismantling the system and leading the islands youth to a greater civilization is an indictment on the slave mentality of most in the teaching profession, it is also an indictment of the visionless directors of all educational institutions locally.
Barbados has taken a different path in its creation of an African history degree program; the program is in fact a teaching degree in African studies.
That type of development can only achieve its true goal by the actual participation of students in such a program regionally.
Persons will in fact have to be invested with a new identity namely one of a Caribbean person a singular identity of being a native of Sint marten or Trinidad is not enough.
The globalization of the world is to rapid for a few small islands to retreat into an isolationist self destructive fantasy.
The false perception of a boom on Sint Maarten is coming to an end natural, disasters, the Global Economic Crisis and a myriad of sociological developments in the industrialized world will see to that.
Should the one pillar economic pillar tourism be negatively affected by any one of the previously mentioned variables Sint Maarten’s perceived boom will be revealed to be exactly what it is a get rich quick scheme for foreign merchants.

CLOSING STATEMENTS:

This work is simply constructed out of concern for youth in general and students in particular.
We have stated certain facts and have tried to come up with creative helpful measures that may or may not be a solution to certain social, academic malaise that plague our society and affect drastically the most vulnerable amongst us.
These suggestions of ours are not intended as purely a solution what this work most certainly achieves is to act a blueprint for any student wishing to self sufficiently maneuver the halls of academia.
This work seeks to inform students in particular and persons interested in the advancement of the student population.
The recent spate of youngsters murdering their peers is almost trendy in the American manner.
Now the situation has dangerously and rapidly deteriorated.
I advocate that those whose futures are directly affected i.e. students and other interested parties work together towards the betterment of society.
Students should begin to situate themselves as an indigenous people group and strive to secure positions in organizations such as the UNESCO anyone studying abroad can secure an intern position in such an organization of course your track record must prove affinity with the social work field.
The jobs of the future on Sint Maarten will be in the field of Doctor, Nursing, Lawyers, and business, i.e. entrepreneur’s avionics, engineering teachers in every field of endeavor.
I have not listed the hospitality industry as that industry will not be able to sustain the future economy regionally.
The future geopolitical picture will be one of terrorism, and international crime on an unprecedented scale.
In a world gripped by war and social unrest tourism will simply not be a means of national sustenance in the future.
Since Sint Maarten currently is an economic one pillar society with no clear cut mandate for the future students will have to create their own future now by nation building, the above mentioned professions are a minute facet of the process of having our own government.
The intention here is clear prevention through information backed by programs: Sualiga Youth Extraordinary Minds will be developing a comprehensive guide for students studying in Holland especially in certain specific areas.

HELPFUL TIPS AND INFORMATION FOR STUDENTS STUDYING IN HOLLAND:
For those applying for scholarships a great planning strategy would be to do so one year before you actually graduate.
If you have friends or family in Holland phone them regularly and request information from the IBG this is necessary as the money that students receive is from the IBG gain knowledge of the city you want to live in not only from the internet but also from people who have actually lived in those places.

1.      Most likely students coming from Sint Maarten studying in places like Rotterdam will more than likely live in the Centrum, West or South Rotterdam.
2.      Any housing must not be to far away from your school.
3.      Get as much information as possible on schools via the internet and the IBG website upon arrival in Holland go immediately to the gemeente and write in to the general register.
4.      General Hygiene is very important maintain your personal hygiene code and stick to the values that you were taught at home.
5.      Never buy a bike from anyone without first receiving the papers of ownership never buy a bike from a stranger on the street more than likely it will be a stolen bike.
6.      Gain as much information as possible on places where you can be helped with bills that you cannot possibly pay find out from the gemeente or Burro voor rechtshulp.
7.      Check your local gemeente for a stadjers pas this will drastically reduce the amount of money you spend on a monthly basis.
8.      Create a budget plan make sure the monies booked to your account are used for the purpose that it was deposited for.
9.      If you receive money from a job or your parents it is advisable to have a second account to receive your salary or your stipend that you get from the IBG will be used to write off the red leaving you without money.

10.  Why two accounts? An alternative account will solve that problem of being broke a thinking student is a successful student.

11.  It is useless to ask government for help the present government is a part of the colonial system of Holland a colonial system is not created for the advancement of its former subjects it is created for their enslavement the new slavery is Crack Cocaine and mental slavery the inferiority complex that the European has foisted upon Africans in the Caribbean Diaspora educate yourself about the system that you live in and in this way you will be helping yourself.
It is useless to ask government for help the government is a colonial system it has yet to elevate its people to a status of independence in the Caribbean region the present state of affairs is simply an indication of the mindset of the colonialists to impoverish and enslave human beings.
If you are being sent to study on a scholarship, why are you not being given proper information as pertains to the housing situation in Holland?
Why are many of you being sent to live in low income ghetto type projects?
This is the reality of the situation in Holland the practice of allowing students to live in house for approximately six months only to inform them that they must move in a matter of weeks whether they have a place to live or not is nothing short of criminal, this creates situation of homelessness amongst some and is a direct cause of some falling into criminality in Holland what is needed is realistic information that will help students dominate the academic arena in Holland.
All people’s worldwide want to be free freedom is not a revolutionary concept nor a warlike concept only a fool would suggest such a thing independence is a part of life.
The 21st century is the beginning of a new era in the Caribbean and the world Islam is emerging worldwide as a dominant culture, China and India are showing signs of becoming two of the world’s strongest economies, with China possibly becoming a military superpower.
These are the issues we need raised we need to be aware of our true destiny and culture as a people or we will ever be the bane of colonialism.
Become positive in your thinking learn about your cultural heritage become positive in your thinking.
It is this report conceived and executed by Sualiuga Extraordinary Minds foundation, which was presented to Sarah Wescott Williams that has allowed the present government a heretofore-unprecedented insight into the psychological makeup of the student populace and their school environment and their culture.

CHAPTER THREE.  The Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
I would like to invoke here the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and examine the document within the present reality on Sint Maarten.
The actual document is in the Dutch language this is deliberate and serves my purpose with this work which is to portray the duality of the imposed use of a foreign language namely Dutch on me as an English speaker.
My intention here is deliberately plain I want to demonstrate the actual workings of the reality on my island all legal documents are in Dutch therefore anyone who cannot speak nor read Dutch, upon entering a situation of jurisprudence must depend on others to translate for him or her.
This exercise also reveals the utter ineptitude and paradoxical nature of such a system.
While Holland which is a member state of the EU enjoys the full rights and privileges of the laws as laid down in the The Universal Declaration of Human Rights.                     Sint Maarten as a former colony of Holland and in a post colonial state of affairs at present, is in fact subjected to various forms of human rights violations of its populace and other Caribbean nationals on a daily basis.

The very fact that Sint Maarten born residents in the Netherlands are referred to as “allochtonen” non indigeneous and Germans in Holland are called Europeans reveals grieveous flaws in the present system that this island is governed by.
Article 21 guarantees the right of a people to participate in the governing of their country of origin through direct participation in the electoral process.
This fundamental right has been subverted here on Sint Maarten by politicians.
The tendency of politicians to give persons monetary handouts, or material goods or even food and alcoholic beverages, all as an incentive or as a direct pay off in return for their vote or support during the election process is in fact a gross violation of the humanrights of the electorate.
It is in fact criminal to take an uneducated person or persons ply them with food and cause them to become inebriated, while at the same time paying them to vote for someone from their own culture and ethnic background, who will advance the interests of a group of foreign born individuals over the indigents who are largely semi-educated and certainly for the large majority totally uneducated as to the actual stakes in a political election.
The culture that this practice has created has foisted an entire generation with a mentality of an intellectual imbecile and has caused the younger generation to misconstrue the undemocratic practices that are observed here yearly as an exercise in democracy nothing could be farther from the truth.
The power relation on the island of Sint Maarten is an oligarchy where an “elite” the word elite here is used disparagingly of course as these person are in many instances involved in criminal offences of various types.
For instance, the illegal practices carried out by many Indian nationals who claim to be business men are in many instances bordering on near slavery.
Many instances that will corroborate my claims here can be observed by a simple read of any local newspaper and one can go back in the archives of these papers and research some now infamous cases.
The oligarchy is characterized by a few beaurocrats who are held in power by a moneyed elite in society.
This is a fact on Sint Maarten the business community here is comprised of various foreign nationals with a large majority of them being Indians who adhere to a Hindu cultural, religious value system.
The spirit of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights is what I’m invoking in this chapter since the large majority of financial donors to political parties of the type described above does this imply that a situation of a subculture developing on Sint marten where the value system of these ethnic groups is given precedence over those of the rest of the population?
I already see the subtleties of said scenario taking shape and gaining momentum.
Observe those occupying seats in the chamber of commerce; observe those “donating” funds to the USM.  They are largely of this subset of people does this imply a sinister plot?
I merely point out the inconsistencies and dangers involved in this development.
One group of people must never be allowed to abrogate power in effect usurping an indigenous peoples right to an inherent preference if you will guaranteed by the rights ascribed to human beings in the UDHR the indigenous population of Sint Maarten are also protected under the laws in the The Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
The cultural rights of the people are also guaranteed therefore the tendency of some to ignore this fact is being challenged here and illuminated.
I studied in Holland when I lived there I observed no delegation from Sint Maarten coming to celebrate Sint Maartens Day no one danced the Ponum or were even aware of such a thing.
Today I see the Independence of Suriname being openly celebrated here and in Holland while these events are all good and well, the indigenous population of Sint Maarten will have to eventually also celebrate and champion their own culture less they risk being totally assimilated into other semi-cultures which would have been a good thing if the average Caribbean person were acculturated as a cohesive Caribbean national since each island has a largely proto-Europeanized cultural outlook with European value systems while clinging to externalized principles of their “culture” this is indeed a dangerous backward step for Sint Maarten.
In the absence of a cohesive holistic Caribbean identity which will most likely never materialize the Sint Maarten indigent who is aware of the value of culture in forming a national identity will attempt to create their own national identity which will clash with the already established national identities of all the other cultures here on the island .
The above-described scenario though is in favor of the indigent who as per the Universal Declaration of Human Rights has every right to explore and develop their potential to its most pristine form in their country of origin.
The one pursuit that has obsessed humanity since the origins of civilization is nation building the island nation of Sint Maarten is no exception.
There is an increasingly educated sophisticated cultured “elite” on Sint Maarten that consists of artists and professionals that are beginning to define their “reality” which is radically different than that of their predecessors it is this group of persons that will shape the future intellectual artistic direction of this island.
With this I end my examination of the The Universal Declaration of Human Rights, in light of the present day reality of Sint Maarten.
I’m not a promoter of the UN as such nor do I agree with their universal vision, I use the available tools and processes to expedite my agenda with this work and to demonstrate that, on Sint Maarten I’m not bound by the will and paternalistic defeatist culture created by men and women from a different generation than mine and who I consider to be inept and incapable individuals, these persons are in fact the presumed leaders on Sint Maarten.  In the true spirit of leadership they have yet to operate, these persons are in fact an Achilles heel and an impediment to the creation of a freethinking 21st century Sint Maartener a man or woman who is in control of their own country and who can directly influence the direction of their country to their own benefit and the benefit of their progeny.

CHAPTER FOUR.  WHAT IS THE EU?
The European Union (EU) is an international body politick that forms the infrastructural basis for cooperation in various forms of fifteen European states the number can change according to geopolitical developments.
The three main areas of cooperation are in the spheres of jurisprudence, economics, and foreign policy.
The economic cooperation occurs mainly within the organ called the European Community the (EC).
The EU was formally brought into public life in 1 November 1993 but the actual framework for a united Europe existed hundreds of years prior and has been the desire of most socialist European politicians if not all of them since most Europeans are in fact socialists of one sort or the other.

The following is the accord that led to the 1957 formation of the European Economic Community. (The languge is Dutch the reason for this was indicated previously in this work).

English translation Her majesty the queen of Belgium, The President of the republick of Germany , The president of the French Republick, The President of the Italian Republick, Her majesty royal highness the empress of Luxemburg, her majesty the queen of the Netherlands.

The following is in fact an example of European nationalism and is in fact institutionalized as its is a constitutional document a constitution is law , as a result it is impossible to separate European Imperialism and European Nationalism, the EU is a creation of European Imperialism and nationalism .
Where in this constitutional document is Sint Maarten? How then can politicians on Sint Maarten confuse individuals with a so called separate status separate from what?
The Netherlands Antilles never existed in practice only on paper.
As long as Sint Maarten refuses to demand full independence and opts to remain in the kingdom of the Netherlands we will continue to perpetuate a racist anti-human relationship with a European power that is part of the EU which is a nationalist white European national concept as is clear to read as per their own words .
Please read and be very clear as to the meaning of what you are about to read.

DIE, na overlegging van hun in goede en behoorlijke vorm bevonden volmachten, omtrent de volgende bepalingen overeenstemming hebben bereikt.

A twenty Euro note the twelve stars above represent the twelve original member states of which Holland was and still is a founding member.
As was stated previously the EU is western European Nationalism, this political ideology must by dint of its character either seek to exclude so called minorities or either to “integrate” them into its social, cultural structure through deemphasizing the cultural attributes of the so called minority and emphasizing a pro European socialization pattern which is detrimental to the development of those being socialized.
The above described process in fact is a form of negative socialization and it has only added to the myriad of problems social as well as political that plagues Dutch society today and by dint of so called Antillean society being a creation of Europeans the Antillean society has also suffered from their misguided totally self destructive attempts to become Europeans, by virtue of the so called Antillean in fact being an African in the Diaspora he in fact is doomed to failure by his self destructive aping of European culture to the exclusion of his won national identity and culture, which is detrimental to the destruction of his society and the future advancement of his progeny.
Articles like “Antilleans mess up integration process” appear in the daylies here on Sint Maarten Dutch politicians claim that Antillean and Moroccan youngsters are messing up the integration process and the Moronic statement was actually used by the writer of said article as proof that Antillians were indeed “messing up” the process.  I state here and now that the system of governance perpetuated on the so called Antillean is in fact criminal and all who aid and abet said system are themselves criminal.
I have lived in Rotterdam I know many Antilleans from all islands and Moraccans, Iranians, Turks and Indonesians etc.
Moronic blanket staements like the above will be exposed for what they are here and attacked, and demolished in this work.
While crime is indeed an impediment to the growth of any society it is oversimplifications like the one above that biases people towards certain ethnic groups.
What the so called reporter should have done is study the causes that allows for a specific group of males from a myriad of communities not only the Antillean and Moroccan communities as a matter of fact the crminals wreaking havoc throughout Europe are chiefly of Yugoslavian, and Russian heritage, the Turks also have a very organized “mafia” throughout Europe and they have several strongholds throughout Holland .
No mention is ever made in the media of the Grijze Wolven a paramilitary group of Turkish origin that is responsible for many liquidations and terrorist activity.
The Antilleans and Moroccans both come from male chauvinist societies where aggression is rewarded and loud and boisterous “acting out” is in fact a part of the male socialization culture of both these groups.
The so called high risk youngsters are mainly youth that came to Holland unchaperoned, or youth born in Holland .
The basic makeup of such an individual is as follows the following is from my own experience as a (Sociaal Cultureel Werker/Social Cultural Worker with Stichting Forsa).
I will give an example from a case that I still have on file I will change the name of my client in order to protect his identity.
Jairo is a young man from the island of Curacoa he was recruited along with some other young males by a coach from Groningen.
The man came to his school searching for soccer talent Jairo is a very talented soccer player, he was chosen to go to Holland for training his parents were approached in order to sign documents etc, actually his mother was his only guardian.
Upon his arrival in Groningen Jairo stayed in a youth hostel for a while soon the program lost its funding due to a myriad of reasons, this left some of the boys who had no family in Groningen or no one who would take thm in homeless.
Jairo was amogst those homeless he met a group of youngsters from Curacoa on the streets and befriended them they sold crack as a means of survival all these young men had no stable place to live and moved from one place to the next.
Usually they stayed with other young men who had an “uitkering” and in this way he had a place to live some slept in the “kamer” or house of a girlfriend who in some cases was in school in an actual HBO educational institution, this might be hard for some to believe but a very large group of these so called rand groep jongeren are in contact with students and herein lays the societies greatest problem.
This dear“journalist” is the situation that my people must live and exist in in the Netherlands .
The hardcore Antillean criminals are not the so called risico jongeren make no mistake about this when we talk about the Antilliaanse problematiek we are referring to young men who grew up basically on the streets and who are accustomed to surviving on the sale of largely cocaine, some are so called “loverboys” the society will want to classify them as pimps this is hardly the case.
These are the individuals who are called ranfgroepers the hardcore of Antillean criminals are grown men and are quite efficient in manipulating and maneuvering their way through the European system with of course cooperation and assistence from established Europeans both in the police ranks and organized crime ranks that statement is from witnessing first hand the criminal underworld in Rotterdam.
In fact the so called randgroepers are in my experience very easy to deal with and they only need oppertunities to advance themselves educationally.
The habit of  Dutch politicians to single out this group and to appear “hard” (stoer)  to a certain bloc of voters is simply political maneuvering this was done even in the early eighties .
The Antillean in the Netherlands is not in and of themselves a problem it is the system of post colonial policy and European nationalism as it characterizes the character of social interaction in Europe that is a very real problem .
Will they change their system to accommodate people whom they refer to as “allochtonen” never.
The so called Antillean must in fact identify himself as he truly is an African in the Diaspora only when he has begun to identify himself to the rest of society will he be able to deal with the social pathologies that plagues him and his society, his society is not in Europe his society is in the Caribbean until this fact is accepted the so called Antillean will remain the bane of the Dutch.
The flight into fantasy so called black consciouness intellectual who must flee the scene and go to Africa, and the neo-Rasta’s will only find that the problems will have worsened and that there is in fact no way out you must now prove your consciouness and Africanness by identifying, defining and eradicating the social, cultural and political malaise that afflicts your people only then will you have earned the distinction of African people.
The Caribbean is in a process today of realizing a Pan-Caribbean cooperation on all levels, we should seek to study in the Cribbean islands , and to formulate lasting trade relationships , workstudy programs, scientific exchange as well as agricultural exchange.
The entire globe today is being divided into blocks geo-politically, culturally, as well as through the means of education.

My only contention with their ilk is this why are they not doing more in the education of their people as pertains to the cultural value system of Sint Maarten as a unique nation people?.
Why is this material not available in schools why cant I find an exhaustive publication on the likes of Carlos Cooks by them or L.B. Scott ? or even Jose Lake Senior? When I say exhaustive I mean an entire voluminous historical autobiographical narrative on these giants of Sint Maarten history?
This is not to attack House of Nehessi though Iam simply stating my honest opinion .
The body work that the institution has produced so far is of the impressive and commendable, praise must be extended for their noble efforts I simply expect more from them on the historical and cultural front as pertains to Sint Maarten history.

The potrayal of a Sualigan/Sint Maarten flag self definition is very important.
The red for the blood shed during our enforced enslavement the yellow for the wealth of our people .
Green for the beauty of our nature.

Our island is also clearly visible the star represents the star potential of our youth, the feather in the star represents justice an ancient Nubian principle called Maat .
The border monument is clearly visible two stars flank the monument representing the male and female principle the vegetation on either side represents local vegetation of all varieties on the island the aloe plant is at the foot of the monument representing the healing of the nation.
The “pond bird” Brown Pelican is a national bird present in our ecology for hundreds of years now almost extinct due to (unsustainable overdevelopment) the filling up of the pond area in fact creating a previously nonexistent landmass has virtually robbed the Pondbird of very large portions of its natural habitat as a result the birds are either dying out or are relocating to much more habitable areas as a result of the damaged ecology , resulting in a loss of wildlife  .
These symbols are all important and all encompassing as symbols of identity for the true Sualigan/Sint Maartener.
Figure :The Dutch Flag.
The so called Sint Maarten flag is an apish attempt to mimick this piece of cloth .
This cloth holds absolutely no relevance for the so called Antillean, it is in fact a symbol of oppression .
For me personally only the flag of independence is real all other flags are nonentities.
Since the so called Antillean is a true Dutch citizen why are they not represented in the Second Chmamber?
The so called Antilleans in the Dutch second chamber do not represent the interests of Antilleans they are simply doing a job .
Therefore Sint Maartners should develop a Sint Maarten national identity and subject through law every visiting humanbeing to the laws of the institution of a true Sint Maarten constitution, only then can you speak of a country Sint Maarten when you have a relevant document forged in jurisprudence that represents the interests of your people and not a foreign group whomever they may be wether they be Indian merchants, Dutch teachers or Surinamese labor they all should be subjected to a Sint Maarten jurisprudence forged in the best interests of the people of Sint Maarten.
Let us be clear every constituonal document on this planet is nationalistic, only on Sint Maarten do we find charlatans of every hue trying to invent a fantasy island whereby all types of foreigners with vested economic narcissistic interests are included in the decision making process of this island.
How can peasants from the Dominican Republic or Haiti have the same representation as a university graduate born and bred on Sint Maarten or a student from Sint Maarten living in Holland and awaiting positive developments in his country of origin in order to return ?
The new Sint Maarten must make it possible for Sint Maarteners abroad to vote in our elections and to take part in referenda locally.
How can the edcucated elite of any nation be excluded from the nation buiding process what nation are you building and for whom are you building your nation?
Who are voting in referenda held locally even certain newspapers attempt to influence persons’ views by skewing their editorial sections to represent their particular views `these entities and persons feel their perceived position will be threatened by a “conscious” Sint Maartener, the exact opposite is the case your perceived position is already jeopardized by the simple fact that you are contributing to your own demise by your subjective reporting, the ignorant hungry American urban imitators locally who are increasingly importing gang culture are i gaining a real foorhold in all neighbourhoods locally .
Thanks to the so called journalists who do not or cannot investigate  they are reporting erroneously nearly all the so calledc “gang related” stories wether they are indeed gang related or not.
There was a recent liquidation in St Peters between warring Jamaicans some claimed it was random nothing could be farther from the truth it was a calculated “rub out” between warring criminals .
Many of the youth locally are indeed forming gangs though they are not as sophisticated as their American “idols” they are increasingly showing a penchant for violence even in the surrounding islands this behaviour can be observed .
The duty of any real reporter would be to accurately report the news in the event this cannot be done they are indeed unfit to be called a reporter, inaccurate news reporting have only increased the already grossly misrepresented biased opinion of an out of control young male population on Sint Maarten.
This work will rectify that situation and also target the real criminals in this situation namely the colonial system, the educational system, the government as an institution and the judiciary.

The following are 23 articles found in the Dutch Constitution I will utilize this document to illuminate the atrocities committed against so called Antilleans in Holland.

Hoofdstuk 1 Grondrechten

Artikel 1

Allen die zich in Nederland bevinden, worden in gelijke gevallen gelijk behandeld. Discriminatie wegens godsdienst, levensovertuiging, politieke gezindheid, ras, geslacht of op welke grond dan ook, is niet toegestaan.
Everyone in Holland will be treated equally under equal circumstances, discrimination on grounds of religion, lifestyle, political ideology, race, or sex or upon whatsoever grounds is unlawful i.e. illegal.
In an article in the Daily Herald Monday,November24,2008 (Ethnic details not necessarily in VIA).
The very fact that politicians in Holland would even consider a separate registration for Antilleans is in fact if it were put into practice illegal as per article 1 of the Dutch Constitution.
A general index is the new tool that they have suggesated to register all so called problem youth excluding of course from this index Dutch problem youth. It is in fact a racist and discriminatory practice.
If a truly democratic registration were to be enacted according to the spirit of their own constitution the Dutch would have to register Dutch youth in that database since this is not being discussed in the debate I must declare here and now that it is a racist tool and it is counterproductive to the democratization of the so called Antillean.

Artikel 2

According to this article their law decides who is a Dutch citizen since the so called Antillean according to their law is also a Dutch citizen why then are they treated unequally because we are in fact not “true” Dutch citizens .
We are forced Dutch citizens when we fully understand and accept this independence will not seem strange to us but it will simply be a natural progression in the ongoing development of our civilization”.

Artikel 3

Alle Nederlanders zijn op gelijke voet in openbare dienst benoembaar.

The articles which I chose to translate are essential to the overall points in the work.
Persons wishing to read the articles in their full English context can find them in English on the worldwide web.
From the above digested material certain key points have been ascertained we have, established that the EU is a white European nationalist union, therefore we can call the European Union a continuation of the European Nationalism of their ancestors when they initially established the so called “Holy Roman German Empire” the paradox in the wording is food for thought how can one maintain a so called holy form while maintaining an imperialist empire.?

CHAPTER FIVE: THE ECONOMY OF SINT MAARTEN:

The economy on Sint Maarten is a creation of a variety of processes and developments.
It is not my intention here to delve into the actual history of the Sint Maarten economy.
I will endeavor to deal with the economy on Sint Marten from a perspective of economy in service of human beings.
An economy is a financial creation resulting from trade in all its intricacies the main intent being to sustain people.
There are a variety of ways an economy can be utilized in service of humanity however the modern prototype in use on Sint Maarten is not human friendly and it is a breeding ground for crime and various forms of prostitution legal as well as illegal.
The tourist economy in all its manifestations is a harbinger of the drugs trade and in fact is a facilitator of the drugs trade.
Some tourists are also substance abusers and many tourists come to the Caribbean and specifically Sint Maarten to not only enjoys the Sun, Sand, and Sea but the reality is that they also come to enjoy drugs and sexual escapades.
Only a fool will deny this anyone who was raised on any island in the Caribbean would have witnessed firsthand in any club on any Caribbean island mostly white female tourists and largely local black males interacting, usually the interaction leads to a sexual encounter, drugs are also sold or simply exchanged in these encounters the increasing precedence of a certain type of male tourist preying on young Caribbean females is also a reality.
All this activity is as a result of how the regional economy is structured it is deliberately structured around tourism and entertainment for said tourist’s in the form of casino’s nightclubs, whorehouses, et al.
Given such a scenario it can hardly be expected that a loose moral climate will not be developed.
While tourism is a great economic vehicle it should never be the “one” economic pillar in any society in purely logical analytical thinking the so called nation builders locally have already missed the mark which people on this planet have ever forged a one pillar economy that developed and grew into a rich and prosperous nation?  If it were remotely possible Sint Maarten would be the only place on earth inhabited by human beings in anciency and the present to build a nation that had only one product that they could offer the nations of the earth as a means of trade in order to foster self sustenance.
Sadly reality and history does not afford humanity the luxury of escapism enmasse someone or some people will have to face the reality as it is on Sint Maarten.
The present economic model is a self-defeating self-destructive one.
It benefits an elite to the detriment of the masses the “service” mentality of some on the island is honed to such a keen level that they are really willing to “serve” as is evinced by the loose sexual culture on the island as well as the region backed by statistics from the (World Health Organization) it has been noted that many males in this supposedly macho Caribbean society are increasingly experimenting sexually even entering the homosexual arena, anal intercourse it has been noted is a preferred method of intercourse by both male as well as females of specifically many of the younger generation .
Even so called heterosexual males are engaging in sexual encounters with other males, they then go back to their female lovers and it has been found that they are increasingly infecting their female paramours as a result of their risqué sexual lifestyle, this phenomena has been noted regionally and is not limited to any particular society throughout the Caribbean region.
Such a discovery tarnishes the macho myscegenist chauvinist armour of the misguided stereotypical Caribbean male.
The entire sexual culture regionally can largely be attributed to the external prickles in the society described above.
Would governments truly desire to control the spread of HIV regionally a more humane education on sexuality would have to be developed.
The imported culture of North America, and the Caribbean imports i.e. dancehall culture are also having a negative impact on the economy of Sint Maarten.
The glorification of materialism in these cultures are an incentive many Indian merchants on Backstreet offering clothing for sale that are in fact fake brand name clothing.
Recently we observed in the local media ads by various US companies declaring the sole rights to distribute clothing or other articles meant for sale bearing their logo.
This type of activity not only robs the originator of the articles of revenue it can lead to a loss of revenue for government.
If articles are printed and or designed locally which is a simple matter today given the advanced technology available for the purpose, one can print and design or simply scan logos from anyone or anywhere in the world and print or brand them onto your material and sell them in a store, items created in this fashion are in fact not traceable and will evade being taxed.
This is the type of piracy being perpetuated by many merchants in Phillipsburg it is also criminal, even though it is subtle and far more sophisticated than the crimes perpetuated by youth it is nevertheless a criminal offence and has no place in civil society.
By not prosecuting these individuals the wrong message is being sent and this only creates a mentality, amongst some that crime is tolerable so long as it is not public.

CHAPTER SIX WHO IS A SINT MAARTENER?

The classic definition of a Sint Maartener is one who can trace their roots on this island through several generations this will include African as well as European descendants, some can even trace their family roots to other Antillean islands Anguilla and certain other Caribbean islands of the English and Spanish speaking variety.
Today the term born here is in and of itself, a confusing term as some persons expect to be given handouts by invoking the term.
An immigrant who has lived on Sint Maarten for however long and is in fact illegal is not a Sint Maartener and can never be termed a Sint Maartebner however good that persons intentions maybe .
The law in fact lays down clearly precisely who can be considered a Dutch citizen; Dutch citizenry is not an automatic right to claim Sint Maarten.
A true Sint Maartener is one whose allegiance is to the island not simply one who works and pays taxes here I have worked and paid taxes in Holland I was never a European nor a Hollander neither did I want to be one, my personal allegiance was and still is to Sint Maarten, not the political union called Sint Maarten but the spiritual, Cultural, Linguistic heritage and legacy that endows one with the elements that creates a Sint Maartener.
Therefore if you live and work on Sint Maarten and your allegiance is to China you are a Chinese, if on the other hand if your child who is born on the island, grew up on the island, but sees himself through the baggage that creates Sint Maarten identity and their allegiance is to Sint Maarten then that individual is a Sint Maartener.
Sint Maartener means one whose allegiance is to the island , allegiance comes over time one cannot step off a plane and within minutes become allied to this reality called Sint Maarten, one must live through the Sint Maarten experience then decide whether you will forsake even your own nationality and become a Sint Maartener .
The question of identity is multifaceted and multi-layered whereas there are many genuine migrants who have adopted this island as their home there are also amongst us many charlatans and conartists seeking to enrich themselves at the expense of others, as long as I can write I will identify this fact and expose the fallacy created by politicians of a melting pot.
The island of Sint Maarten is not a melting pot the term melting pot was used in reference to the smelting of iron ore to forge from many pieces of a variety of iron a totally new iron object, this in fact does not apply here we see that each group maintains their own separate identity, we have the Guyanese community, the Jamaican community, the Phillipino community, The Arab community et al.
Therefore by dint of practicality these “communities” see themselves as separate and apart from the Sint Maarten reality and as such this island could never be a melting pot by any stretch of the imagination.
America is an example of a true melting pot we have Chinese Americans, African Americans, Guyanese Americans they all have one thing in common their American identity and a shared flag a shared American culture and a judicial system that represents them all.
While the Chinese American knows that his ethnic identity and ancestry is Chinese his allegiance is towards America, on Sint Maarten the opposite is the case as the island has not yet created a national identity that co-opts all, this will change in years to come as the present reality will create many social pathologies that will not be dealt with outside of the realms of education, psychology, the courts, NGO’s and the international bodies governing sovereignty laws et al.
Most islands and entities globally are represented in the UN even Sint Maarten will realize that it is simply impossible for them to be represented in The Hague without an actual functionary in the second chamber, what powers will such an individual have which majority vote will account for them being elected in the first place? The complexities and the very impossibility of the matter defies reason itself.
In any truly civilized society full democratic and judicial representation must apply.
sphere,state,
In the geopolitical
representation of the type described above is only possible in the Sint Maarten context if Sint Maarten becomes an EU member
as is the case with St Kitts and other Caribbean independencies.

CHAPTER SEVEN TOWARDS THE FUTURE:

Many are now claiming there are no illegal children this is a blatant lie, anyone who comes to the island of Sint Maarten, who is not a Dutch citizen and intends to work on the island will be termed illegal if they are not in possession of valid work and or living permits.
The mundane remarks made by Omayra Leeflang are in fact pseudo-legal and only invokes portions of the law to suit her own political “ends”.
Having children in school is not a deterent to crime in and of itself.
The responsibility to educate portions of the Caribbean’s youth cannot be laid at the doorstep of the island government of Sint Maarten nor the educational institutions on the island, the creation of unaccredited illegal schools are also not an alternative to the issue.
As I have previously stated the creation of a truly civilized society where the rule of law applies to all is in fact the only answer to the myriad of social maladies plaguing this island and the region.
The inability of certain Caribbean countries to provide a sustainable standard of living for many of their uneducated and semi-literate population has indeed created a situation of an exodus from these islands to Sint marten they bring with them their own baggage inherited from their situation.
The situation of undocumented youth not attending school is seen by my person as a great opportunity for the entire regional pedagogical structure to benefit from this boon of human capital.
Previously throughout the region human beings were never viewed as capital but human beings are in fact the most expensive national capital of any nation just examine how much it costs to house incarcerated persons anywhere in the Caribbean.
The collective class structure will indeed eliminate finally the issue of undocumented youth.
The structure of the collective class serves as a nationalizing institution regardless of country of origin, with the intent being to nationalize youth to function as a true Sint Maartener whose “allegiance” is to Sint Maarten.
If these youth are going to be educated in a colonial institution and they are going to be left up to the whims of a largely young female and semi-literate or totally illiterate parenting experience you are creating social maladies that will plague this island for generations to come.
If these children will not be nationalized then it is best they be sent back to their country of origin, the onus of the burden of their education lays squarely on the shoulders of their parents and their governments, in such a scenario.
My own advice is that these youth be nationalized through education and that they be trained to serve in the best interests of Sint Maarten.
In the event of a national identity, all persons involved would feel proud to be a Sint Maartener.
I already outlined previously the manner in which such can be achieved with introduction of the collective classroom nationalism is what will build a nation not casinos, hotels nor tourists, national character, national identity, national curriculum creates pride in self, which creates character which in turn leads to a collective consciousness in society binding, unifying and linking persons regardless of ethnicity or country of origin into a civilized society worthy to be called nation.
The present political entity called Sint Maarten is not yet a “nation” country status will not elevate Sint Maarten to true nationhood one cannot have a country without a national identity this is humanly impossible .
The present situation is one of a people struggling to identify themselves to the global society, this is good for it is within this search of identity where the people will be confronted with, their divisions and there sameness and out of such will emerge the beginning stages of a national prototype.
Some are afraid of the prospect of independence some see at as the wish of an idealist clique of the educated African descendant on Sint Maarten of the third and fourth generation, they claim that no one else wants independence.
The smokescreen invented by these types whom are usually media personalities mainly of European heritage, their fear lays in the fact that they believe that a black backlash against them could ensue.
Independence has nothing whatsoever to do with ethnicity or the unleashing of revenge on some group for perceived atrocities committed in the past.
The truly enlightened man or woman who agitates society in the direction of independence would have learned that the varying groups in society are  interdependent of each other without one the other will fall, therefore in that context the European descendants who consider themselves Sint Maarteners cannot be excluded nor marginalized in such a scenario.
The only way to insure true justice in any society is to enshrine national identity in a constitution, the present “constitution” that is being postulated is in fact a copy of that used by Aruba in 1987, that type of juvenile attempt at the construction of a constitution leaves a plethora of grey areas and is in fact on the face of it a joke.
The social engineers on Sint Maarten are in fact a group of silent participants in the undermining of the intellect and humanity of their own progeny and themselves.
How can one copy another persons “Constitution”?
Do the politicians understand what the word constitution implies it is not simply a document but is in fact the written laws of a nation it enshrines heritage and is in fact sacrosanct for it is a civilizing vehicle it is also the literal soul of any nation should the laws therein be violated by any public official such a person should be immediately and unceremoniously ousted from whatever position or office that they hold.
If Constitutional laws are not upheld in a democracy that feigned Democracy will eventually sink into chaos and anarchy.
Some claim that Sint Maarten is a democracy Sint Maarten has the right and power to enact enforce and propagate a democratic process, in that this is not done, in that the democratic process is subverted by the very persons who should safeguard it without these persons in fact being held accountable the actual democratic process is not truly functional on Sint marten as yet, but it will occur out of pure necessity as the criteria for funding from any industrialized democratic nation on earth including EU member state Holland will of necessity entail the proper functioning of democracy in the society.
This development is already a global trend and it will intensify even on Sint Maarten the actual process will be enforced, future Sint Maarten will increasingly become a country governed by due process of law.
This development is now inescapable as industrialized nations will want to  have more influence in the Western Hemisphere a simply study of the UN guidelines governing NGO’s in all third world countries globally will dispel any doubt as to the authenticity of my statement.  The same guidelines apply to all governments in third world countries Sint Maarten falls under “Third world Country.”
Every people on earth the are imbued by (God)  to govern themselves, Sint Maarten is no exception media personalities must not cloud the issue by publishing unfounded statements originating in their own irrational fear, fear of the unknown no one should be fearful as the present political culture will fade away new people will take control of the reigns of power these people are younger, and they stem from this generation they, will be more nationalistic, educated in various disciplines and able to cope with the European ideology as per the Sint Maartener, this new Sint Maartener is directly influenced by global culture in the Western hemisphere they watch CNN, they have cable TV they have been exposed to a true democratic model having studied in America and Holland, they know how to organize and lobby, they are familiar with You Tube they can manipulate information they are already media savvy, which leads me to predict here that the future Sint Maarten will of necessity must be an independent nation because this is not only the reality of our region it is a natural evolutionary process of all living matter, even the Chicken Leg and Johnny Cake, begging politicians for handouts generation will be able to understand this the evolution of the time has dictated that your time is up a new era is on the horizon and they will in fact fall in line out of necessity, as those controlling the development funds are requiring such, it is pure medievalism in fact for Holland to continue to hold these islands hostage in the present political relationship it will increasingly become impossible for them to claim egalitarianism and enlightenment and still pursue a post-colonial policy towards Dutch citizens in the Caribbean it will no longer be possible the heightened intellect of the average Sint Maartener and the current developments globally renders such a scenario completely impossible herein lies the greatest boon to Sint Maarten and the region our heightened consciousness as a result of being exposed to the self same freedom delivering processes that have enriched the industrialized nations of the world, and have brought about great peace and prosperity in their countries, we in the so called Third World are now clamoring to enjoy comparable levels of prosperity at home in our respective countries, the taste of success is contagious we have caught the bug the people are clamoring for more only enlightened conscious, inclusive government will bring this about tribalism, nepotism and paternalism have held the region hostage for years I predict here that this will no longer be tolerated as in the past it will be answered and resisted by the new power seekers therein lays the regional destiny, and the destiny of Sint Maarten .
Recently Hero Brinkman claimed that he it is his intention to start a “movement conference on corruption”
He claims that this will be done through a “population based” strategy he said the island are a “corrupt gang of thieves”, While I agree with him that the islands indeed consist largely of corrupt thieving politicians Iam of the opinion that he should refrain from blanketly referring to the populace at large as such.  Brinkman further claimed that he personally selected a group of people who were “critical of the corrupt politicians now in power” Brinkman is one example of the type of politician that many Dutch voters support his sentiments are not a figment of his imagination by any means his sentiments are shared by a very large portion of the Dutch voting populace remember the Dutch rallied behind Pim Fortuyn’s political platform enmasse, had Fortuyn not met an untimely demise he would have ushered in the long awaited new era in Dutch politics.
The younger generation of Dutch Europeans are mostly of the bent of Fortuyn and Brinkman I know I saw firsthand the rise of Fortuyn.
The Dutch in fact are correct in moving to protect their own interests at the expense of islands that consist of foreigners who are mostly of African descent, we are by no means Europeans we are only in possession of European passport as a result of Colonialism, when the population on these islands begin to deal with that fact from a historical perspective then they will be able to correctly contextualize their present condition in light of historically accurate data.
The Dutch are not obligated to care about so called Antilleans the very word Antillean is a creation of the European, like the word Negro created to refer to the ideal slave when you realize that you are not an Antillean only then will you be equipped psychologically to begin the process of “self identification.”
Two Dutch politicians Jan van Bochove and Jan Schinkelshoek for the first time in my memory recently summarized the relationship between the so-called Antillean islands and Holland as a “colonial” relationship.
Both of the above-mentioned politicians claimed, “Colonial relationships have long-lasting effects.”
They openly stated that the electorate in the Netherlands is increasingly unwillingly to see their taxes being utilized to develop the so-called Antilles far away islands in the Caribbean that they view as corrupt and badly managed.
The Dutch European population are increasingly against spending millions of Euro’s the spending of which is not in their own best interest’s at the present rate it is being misused.
The type of aid the Dutch could concentrate on should consist of expenditure on a more self sufficient democratically functioning people centered form of governance.
The present government on Sint Maarten allocates huge sums to so called “tourism development” such development usually consists of spending money on ads in various areas that persons think may or may not have a positive impact on the ratio of tourists visiting the island.
At present there is no actual way to measure precisely how many tourists spend money on what products if any, is there a difference between the shopping habits of cruise tourists and those that stay in hotels these are the actual variables that these “officials” will have to take into account and compile consistently compare them with previous figures study them assisioiusly and figure out the best way to make tourists actually spend money while they are on the island.
My personal interest is not in tourism development but I understand psychology and meticulous planning if you want a superior product constant care will have to be exercised in order to develop your product to its greatest potential.
The Dutch will be better served by demanding that their monies be budgeted in the following manner:
Monies should be allocated to the development of an educational system geared towards meeting the special needs of the African male in the Caribbean, as he is in fact the most at risk student in the present day society.
The African male is the most prone to be engaged in gang activity and other forms of criminal activity intensive focus must be brought to bear on this male in order to socialize towards an early understanding of manhood and his place within society .
This type of education will save society and governments in particular the Dutch millions of Euro’s.

CHAPTER EIGHT: THE IDEOLOGY OF INDEPENDENCE IN THE  CARIBBEAN

Figure: Edward Wilmot Blyden mentor of Marcus Garvey.
                                        Patriarch of Pan Africanism.

The term independence in this work does not only refer to political autonomy or a semi-independent political status, as is the case regionally.
The term independence here refers to the ability of a nation to perpetuate its civilization throughout millennia using the means of the political process, the educational, as well as the religious institutions, cultural and technological wealth of its people.
Independence herein also encompasses national identity as well as a constitution which guarantees the rights of all citizens by law, within said constitution the rights of the citizens and the sovereignty of their nation is sacrosanct, the democratic system being the one system in said constitution that will be utilized to safeguard and protect said rights.
If the reality of true independence in the Caribbean context were to be examined however briefly and minutely in this work I will like to make mention of the ideological fathers of said movement in the region.
Often when one hears about Pan- Africanism, the name that usually comes to mind is Marcus Mosiah Garvey yet Garvey was in fact a student of Edward Wilmot Blyden.
Blyden was a Sint Thomas native who wanted to be a missionary he later changed his course, of thinking and dedicated himself to a lifelong struggle of African liberation.
The Caribbean in fact gave to the world many great intellectuals and thinkers I will like to mention a few here, Frantz Fanon, Cesaire, George Padmore who was adviser to Kwame Nkrumah the president of Ghana on African affairs, C.LR James, and many others.
The program that the UNIA the organization headed by Garvey is worthy of mention here as it embodies a vision and insight far beyond its time and is even more progressive and relevant than any program enacted by any Western power on the planet today as pertains the African in the Diaspora in their midst even the independent countries in the Caribbean and Africa cannot boast of the most basic application of anything even vaguely reminiscent of what Garvey’ UNIA advocated as a means of mass social uplift.
Iam not mentioning this simply as a means of lauding the insight and vision of the UNIA Iam attempting to show the relevance of such a program even for the African in the Diaspora today and how government can be used as a tool for social reformation, mass education and social uplift rather than the present dismal and apathetic state of affairs.

The aims of the Universal Negroe Improvement Association were and still are:

1: To establish a universal confraternity among the race.
2: To promote the spirit of race pride and love.
3:  To reclaim the fallen race.
4:  To administer the imperialism of independent Africa.
5:  To establish Universities, Colleges and Secondary Schools to further education and culture of the boys and girls of the race.
6: To conduct worldwide commercial and industrial intercourse.

There were also local Jamaican objectives, which were ipsi facto Caribbean objectives.

1: To rescue the fallen women of the island from the pit of vice and infamy.
2: To do all that is possible to help the struggling masses to a higher state of moral appreciation.
3: To help generally in the development of the country.

The points and objectives mentioned above were not exclusive to Garvey or the UNIA but were and are part of the total objective of nation building in and of itself.
Men like Garvey and C.L.R James understood that in order for them to b effective leaders of the African in the Diaspora they would have to interpret these principles from out of his experience and reality, C.L.R James however saw transcended the role of simply a “Black Leaders” he never presented himself as such he was a truly universal leader and it is this type of leader who is in fact the most effective, therefore while Garvey has his place men like James must also be given their place in history, this work tries to draw the oft difficult balance between the varying types of leaders without attempting to diminish one and to falsely promote another .
I will like to elucidate on one Cyril Lionel James (1901-1989) as he was literally a giant and an internationally renowned and respected world scholar, political theorist, philosopher, literary, critic and Pan-Africanist.
James was a world figure who advocated African self-government, and West Indian or Caribbean self-government.
The reason for the expose on James is many fold one of the chiefest being he is not read in any major university in the Caribbean and he has been totally omitted from most historical studies in the region on Caribbean history how can one omit so crucial a man to the very development of “Caribbean History” as a subject in cultural studies is yet a mystery.
In this work he will be given his just due James was born in Trinidad his father was a schoolteacher his mother an educated woman.
James worked as teacher for a time on Trinidad he completed a novel Minty Alley published in 1936 the book was about the life of the lower classes.
In England he became an “enigmatic phenomena” he published several works worth mentioning here The Case for West Indian Self-Government, World Revolution 1919-1936: The Rise and fall of the Comintern (this was of course a Marxist work).
He also authored the Black Jacobins: Toussaint L’Ouverture and the San Domingo Revolution.
His play Toussaint L’Ouverture’ London premiere starred his friend Paul Robeson who was influenced by James.
James completed a noted major philosophical study entitled “Notes on Dialectics”; a literary critical study of Melville, Mariners Renegades, and Castaways; and several collaborative works on world politics.
In 1962 in London James published “Beyond a Boundary” and historical study of Cricket.
James influenced greatly such writers as Vincent Harding, Manning Marable, Edward Said, Stuart Hall, Walter Rodney, and Sylvia Winter.
Scholars place him among the founders of cultural studies as well as “black studies” with the overwhelming evidence of this mans greatness in America and especially England the country of Trinidad in particular is in fact contributing to its own demise by not highlighting this giant of the twentieth century, Caribbean educational institutions are a farce until they all collectively embrace and acknowledge this man who was in fact the intellectual dynamo that gave them voice it was because of his work that they now exist how can one ignore one’s “creator”?
Stokely Carmichael was a Trinidad born revolutionary who was greatly influenced by Fanon and he most definitely would have read of and was well aware of James and his many contributions it is simply a crime that education is being conducted in the Caribbean without acknowledging the very persons that made it possible for “true education” to exist in the region or are we to think that the so called independent governments are yet forwarding a colonial agenda by deliberately miseducating their countries youth.
The Caribbean Pan-Africanist has influenced global Pan-Africanism to an extent not yet appreciated nor understood by the academicians in the region.
Marcus Garvey one of the most prolific of these thinkers and certainly the greatest organizer amongst them popularized what many were already writing about and agitating for Garvey in fact wrote about a West Indian Federation and laid down the blueprint for its attainment.
What Garvey and many others articulated was simply Caribbean nationalism and African Nationalism across the board.
The European has created his brand of nationalism in the European Union; all of Europe is in fact governments built out of the nationalist ideal a study of European history will attest to this fact.
The British Labor party was conceived out of the Fabian Society in 1893.
In 1906 the party was given its present name George Bernard Shaw and Annie Besant were two of the more famous members of the Fabian society.
Anyone familiar with the literary works of Annie Besant might be surprised to find out that she is one of the persons who molded what we refer to as socialism.
The Europeans themselves acknowledge that socialism is in fact a child of Marxism.
Have they discarded the socialist model because Karl Marx helped write the Communist Manifesto? No they simply evolved Marxian theory to reflect their present reality out of such the British Labor Party of which Tony Blair was a very prominent member was born.
Why have I brought this point to the fore? The Caribbean has for years sought to create a certain amount of hegemony.
The Caricom is concrete proof of such the ineffectiveness of the Caricom is as a result of there being an absence of a Caribbean identity forged in nationalism, the cricket cup is a sport it is not a nationalistic symbol although if correctly used it can become a unifying symbolic event.
The tendency of the leadership in the region to form their ideology based on Eurocentric values is an Achilles heel that will continue to cripple them.
Pan-Africanism in the Caribbean context can be correctly termed Pan-Caribbeanism can a cohesive ideology be developed out of Pan-Africanism beneficial to a Federated Caribbean? I think this can be achieved no true Caribbean intellectual can claim to be a “Caribbean” intellectual without having been influenced by the likes of Garvey, Fanon, Césair Blyden and the many other thinkers to have sprang from the region.
The nationalistic ideology already exists in the region and the organ Caricom is a reality only visionary leaders willing to forgo the old self-destructive patterns of trying to nation build in the Caribbean using methods alien to the Caribbean Psyche.
Mention must be made here of Haile Selassie who was not a Caribbean man but he nevertheless by virtue of his very existence was responsible for some of the most cohesive Pan-Africanist movements and ideology coming out of the region.
The Organization for African Unity (OAU) is his brainchild which is an African attempt to foster a continental African unity along political, military and economic lines known as the father of Africa Haile Selassie was Africa’s most ablest statesman and inspired many Caribbean intellectuals and Pan Africanist thinkers.
European political ideology is meant to create European nationalism in order to perpetuate European values and culture this fact seems to escape Caribbean leaders.
The ideology of Pan Africanism can be evolutionaized to reflect the modern reality of Caribbean people in relation to the global economy and culture.
Although there is now such a thing as global culture the Caribbean identity must not be lost to global culture, the Caribbean person in order to advance in the 21st century will have to adapt as we have demonstrated over the years to globalization and utilize the methods, and technology gained in industrialized nations to the betterment of Caribbean people. The fact that Caribbean people have been enormously successful anywhere in the world we have happened to find ourselves attests to the inbred talents and abilities of the people in the region, despite the lack of a cohesive nationalistic Caribbean identity the people as a whole have continued to chose to identify with the region .
That identification though is limited to cultural aspects of Caribbeanness like the food eaten, the type of clothing worn, langue and speech patterns, and of course music and sports.
There is no specific identification of a Caribbean intellectual culture although Garveyism transformed the intellectual baggage in the region and was a strong component in the development of the modern Caribbean intellectual there is no school of thought developed in the region around Garveyism.
It is only through the development identification and preservation of schools of thought indigenous to a particular people region or nation can human beings develop the intellectual sophistication necessary to involve themselves enmasse in national nation building and the construction of a civilization unique to them.
A perverse form of intra-Caribbean commerce already exists on Sint Maarten namely the prostitution trade; prostitution is the primal factor in the now growing trade in human beings between various islands in the region.
Human trafficking is in fact encouraged by governments in the Netherlands Antilles certainly on a subconscious level as these islands send a mixed message by providing the atmosphere and the legal as well as illegal means for such a trade to flourish.
We have a perfect example of governments contributing by their own actions to a social malaise the populace are left to suffer the consequences.
Prostitutes are in fact given residence permits in order to ply their trade on the island, the granting of a work permit entails government approval and cooperation with the owners of brothels.
This form of human exploitation is encouraged and allowed in the mistaken belief that the business of prostitution will attract a variety of male visitors to the island.
The actual reality of such a trade is one of gross abuse of the Caribbean female by other Caribbean peoples.
The largely Colombian and Dominican women found in the brothels are in many cases young semi-literate and in some instances totally illiterate young women from poor rural communities in their countries of origin.
As a result of poverty and lack of information in their countries of origin and here locally these individuals are perfect and sometimes unwilling pawns in a business fraught with many dangers, the incidence of sexually transmitted diseases are very high in said business despite many assurances to the contrary.
The image of Sint Maarten as a port of sexual escapades is encouraged by the very people who claim to be in the business of nation building nothing could be more paradoxical.
The perverse form of intracooperation is in fact proof of a willingness on the part of government to accommodate foreign workers so long as they think that said activity will invigorate the economy, the fact that the monies generated by prostitution is non taxable gives reason for pause.
A highly advanced Caribbean civilization will seek to minimize and discourage prostitution amongst its citizens regionally.
I will examine a model for regional cooperation much in use throughout Europe and this model also attracts a global clientele.
The model of economic initiative that Iam alluding is the student city or the Dutch Studenten Stad.
The city of Groningen is a perfect example of such, the college tuition costs for a four-year study in Holland is much less than a comparable field of study in the USA.
Many international students from all over the globe flock to Groningen annually for the chance to study in one of the many institutions of higher learning there.
There are many stores and shops that cater to the students keeping in mind that the students have a certain amount of money to spend these places of business accommodate them and as a result do fairly well financially.
Sint Maarten with it’s Dutch passport system and the dual possibility of its students being able to study in the USA has the perfect environment for entrepreneurs to exploit the vast wealth creation possibilities in this field the type of activity I will introduce here will not only attract a variety of highly educated highly skilled clientele the cultural, academic exchanges created out of such an intercourse will in the long run generate “ taxable” income for the coffers of government such activity will also attract tourism hereby creating an alternative tourist than the type presently attracted to the island, namely the sex seekers and gamblers. The type of tourism Iam alluding to can in an ideal society replace the prostitution tourist completely and ideally prostitution will also be replaced as a viable means of economic activity here on Sint Maarten.
The USM can be developed as an institution that caters to a global clientele, of course the affordability and the quality of the product must be taken into account.
If one wishes to develop a high quality affordable product and offer it to a diverse clientele, the expertise of local professionals as well as regional professionals will have to be utilized and exploited in order to create the type of exchange necessary for the development of a culture of academic excellence that can be exploited by governments and business regionally.
The Caribbean at present is largely a region where because of the reality of semi-civil societies, where the rule of law cannot be guaranteed by governments, we have out of such a massive exodus and “brain drain” of the most educated and in some instances the most capable qualified and sophisticated members of the community.
The most potent human capital of many Caribbean islands leave on an annual basis to study in a North American or European country with the intention of never returning to the region.
Most feel no obligation or duty whatsoever to regional uplift nor development.
The mindset described above is not the creation of the students themselves but it is simply a mindset of survival given the alternative.
Sint Maarten can develop a university atmosphere that not only encourages regional intracooperation but also teaches such in their curriculum.
The history and culture of the region should be taught the history of the Caribbean people should not be simple traced to slavery; it should be handled with dignity and respect.
The many areas of human endeavor that Caribbean people participated in globally throughout our existence should be taught at present this is not the case anywhere in the region.
The culture of academic excellence where in manhood and womanhood can be developed can be created, all other people globally have done this, the present atmosphere in many Western industrial societies is counterproductive to the creation of a productive educated citizen the jaded drug fueled atmosphere of most institutions of higher learning throughout Western civilization should not be emulated here, yet this is precisely what has developed.
Through the popular culture of America and some European cultures, the Caribbean youth are in fact being molded not as productive citizens but as antagagonists to the development of regional prosperity.
The creation of the type of academic culture that Iam describing will in fact serve as a deterrent of such.
This type of culture can be developed as a replacement of the present culture which encourages, teenage pregnancies and the like, alcoholism drug abuse and delinquency.
The culture as described above will be developed chiefly in the University the aim in such a society would then be to attain an education as a means to advance society as a whole and not simply to earn a salary.
Students of various Caribbean islands involved in such a learning experience will then be able to form unions and organizations wherein a Pan-Caribbean nationalism can be fostered, cultivated, and launched throughout the region.
Governments in the region in such a society will not have to compete with North America and Europe for their own human resources but can with deliberateness, mold certain students who display a high degree of genius to study in the industrialized countries gain valuable information and knowledge and return to the region with the intent of advancing Caribbean civilization.
The governments in the region can also benefit from such a development in the present scenario much unschooled untrained persons migrate from one island to the next.
In many instances criminal activity ensue out of this development.
The highly educated human capital of the type of society described herein will greatly decrease the types of criminal activity we witness today.
Crime will never be wiped out of any society for the simple fact that mankind in his pursuit of power and wealth will in fact create more sophisticated ways of gaining such criminal activity as a means of gaining wealth more than likely will always be with the human race.
The type of crime I most definitely know that can be curbed, curtailed and in many instances limited is the incidence of youth on youth violence and gang activity.
Gang culture is not unique to the region rather it is a recent phenomena adopted by youth because of their exposure via television and radio to popular Urban North American culture.
The fact that youth can be so easily influenced through the means of television is a positive and a negative development.
Television can also be used by governments regionally as a medium in the education of the youth.
All governments regionally I predict here will in the near future whether they are willing to or not have to allocate extensive funds to crime prevention this, a lions share of said funds will be utilized to condition youth into adopting a more civilized demeanor.
The trend in the future development of societies will be towards manageability all governments will want more manageable societies youth will be the future citizens in any society governments will increasingly realize their potential to build a society reflective of certain core values, as I fore stated television, radio and the internet will be the chief means of achieving this of course the environment in which all of these mediums will be used to their maximum potential is the classroom.
Classrooms of the future will reflect government policy sharply in their curriculum global competition will become even more intensified.
The developments described above will force governments in the Caribbean to adopt many of the methods, policies and models of civilian government as described throughout this work and they will adopt many of the models for classrooms as described herein.
The inevitable effects of globalization necessitates a means of self-preservation self-preservation will in the end simply prove stronger than our present apathetic mimicry of others and their methods.
In the end a more cohesion Caribbean will emerge the only question is will the region be steered by a deliberate method developed out of a nationalistic ideal or will governments and NGO’s be found lagging and scrambling to come up with means and methods when it is obviously to late.
The developments regionally as pertains to the reenactment of the death penalty in many of our English-speaking neighbors should serve as forbearer of what is being said here.
Prevention is always the true cure the present “culture” of the youth of the region is “criminal culture” therefore death is an accepted inevitability in said culture, serving time in jail is also a part of said culture, death in such a culture is a means of becoming iconized a sort of anti-hero if you will, simply study the heroes portrayed in popular culture these Hollywood created characters are in fact the model of success that the youth seek to emulate simple hanging them will not suffice the very culture that they live must be changed this can only be accomplished in a classroom the teaching is from the cradle to the grave as gang culture perpetuates itself from the cradle to the grave only when governments begin to acknowledge that they are faced with a burgeoning crisis not dissimilar to terrorism will they begin to fathom the vastness of the pathology that they are faced with.
The ability of gangs to adapt and to recruit youngsters into their fold has vastly increased.
The incidence of prostitutes on the island also facilitates money laundering et al.
Prostitutes in many instances are used by drug dealers as money launderers, prostitutes sometimes open bank accounts with a local bank then deposit large amounts of money into their accounts in many instances the money is in fact proceeds from illegal drug activity, they can then withdraw large amounts of US currency and take the currency back to their countries of origin in the form of travelers checks or bankers checks and even cash.
I personally witnessed the scenario many times as a teller on Sint Maarten having worked for three different local banking institutions.
Again we have government with their tacit approval of work permits for prostitutes unwittingly aiding and abetting criminal enterprise.
Gangs, prostitution and drug abuse and drug dealing and drug distribution are interconnected interdependent enterprises, many prostitutes are in fact junkies this fact should be taken into account by government here on the island of Sint Maarten when they allocate work permits in order to facilitate prostitution, prostitution in a truly humane civilized society will in fact be banned as the practice debases the morals of the one offering the service as well as the “clients” it also sends conflicting messages to young impressionable persons.
Terrorism is in fact a characteristic of gang culture and is a reality regionally drive by shootings, assinations, murders, robberies, kidnappings and the intimidation of those cooperating with law enforcement are all overt acts of terror and should be treated as such by the society .
Gangs are increasingly using terrorist tactics to instill fear into the population regionally and are developing more sophisticated methods of self-proliferation and self-promotion.
Gangs should be recognized for what they are semi-terrorist groups a hybrid-gang formed out of former military personnel from San Salvador Mara Salva Tuchra/ Swarming Ants or the more common MS 13 is a clear and present danger to the security of most nation states globally, this gang is highly hierarchical and functions more like a corporation than a mere street gang.
The gang has the ability to in chameleon like manner morph into whatever type of organ the situation requires any where in the world.
This gang in fact has developed a reputation for brutality the likes of which has never before been seen anywhere in the western hemisphere.
The MS 13 is wreaking havoc throughout much of the Southern USA in states like Arizona, and Utah they are the strongest gang.
The MS 13 is a gang that can be hired by other organizations such as terrorist groups they are also for hire to the various organized crime networks.
Prostitution and gangs are linked maybe not in the Netherlands Antilles but most certainly in South and Central America the practice of human trafficking is for the most part controlled by criminal gangs the MS 13 will increasingly use this trade to gain an economic toehold in the trade regionally, when this type of menace reaches the shores of Antillean communities society will be faced with a human menace never felt before in this region of the world.
This development is in fact facilitated by the imbecility of the Antillean governments themselves, when that time arrives governments will openly plead and beg all stakeholders to find solutions, I’m identifying a regional and global security threat that exists and is clear and present terrorist groups aided and abetted by criminal gangs incurring on the territory of weakened traditional organized crime organizations will takeover present trade routes these include the Caribbean as  region and the so called Antillean islands are crucial points of commerce within this trade as a result of the legal facilitation of prostitution and the highly developed nightlife which facilitates the atmosphere conducive to prostitution, criminal gangs are in fact a threat to regional economic prosperity now and in the foreseeable future.
The only way to curb and combat criminal gang activity is to highlight its existence and for private, as well as government and religious organizations to work in tandem as a literal fronts in a war for their very survival.
The malaise that plague Southern America have already spiraled dangerously out of control there are a myriad of statistics to bear up my claims in this section of this work I will provide statistics later in the work.
Even if Sint Maarten as a majority wishes to remain a ward of the EU member state the Kingdom of the Netherlands, the island will yet have to create a comprehensive plan along with all Caribbean nation states towards regional cooperation in combating criminal gangs, which are in fact semi-terrorist cells.
Professor Norman Girvan wrote an article entitled “A Caribbean Wish List for the Obama administration”; several newspapers in the region carried the article.
I would like to examine cer5tain points that he made in light of what is being presented in this work.
His first point was Gaza many in the region might think that the Israeli Arab conflict in the Middle East is somehow separate from our reality maybe fifty years ago such a statement could go successfully unchallenged, unfortunately the world of today is an entirely different reality than the world of yesteryear.
With the increasing interconnectedness of people and cultures because of technology and, migration, emigration, war, education with their varying consequences and effects our world has become smaller and what happens elsewhere in the world particularly on the economic, political, social, and increasingly religiously level effects the global population either directly or indirectly.
The recent election of inauguration of US president elect Barack Obama offers ample proof of such, the impact of the event was in no wise limited to America but had global ramifications mountains were renamed after him, babies all over the world are being named in his honor, the village where his father was born got electricity and a paved road as a result of him becoming president in fact the list is exhaustive, I have only alluded to those developments as a way of proving my point.
The second point made by the professor is of even greater relevance to our present day reality, security, and transnational crime he referred to it as the regions number one problem.
He also wrote about the need for technical, material, and logistical support for the effort to establish an “integrated Caricom security system to combat the incursion of transnational criminal networks into the region.”
In previous sections of this work I stated the exact sentiments being raised by Professor Girvan, I have not heard anything from most Caricom leaders or any Caribbean intellectual on these pressing issues.
The intelligentsia in the academic arena and the regional literati are strangely silent on most of the issues raised by the professor , most of the voices that one heard in the past are now silent it is now that their intellect and contribution is desperately needed more than ever before.
If the Caribbean as a region refuses to acknowledge the extreme vulnerable position that, we are all in today I shudder at the thought of what will result from such.
This work attempts to offer solutions and encourage dialogue across the board regionally and internationally in finding common solutions to the most pressing of the problems facing the region.
Sint Maarten with its unique cultural fabric and vast untapped human resource potential steered and guided by an enlightened visionary leadership can position itself now as never before to assume the mantle of independence , the Obama victory can teach us all on Sint Maarten an invaluable lesson nationalism , patriotism true democracy and inclusiveness in the makeup of society and government are indeed ingredients for success it is impossible to lose in such a scenario for the stakes will be to high when one has morality, and the rule of law guided by a democratic constitution the very sacrosanct nature of the constitution itself will serve as a moral lightning rod and guidepost post for society to follow where the leadership failed to adhere to the principles as laid down in the constitution as in the case of George W Bush Jr and his Republican party the electorate in their numbers chose to let the leadership know in no uncertain terms that they were displeased with the direction that their government had taken they let this be known at the ballot box, the ballot prevailed over the bullet.
We in the Caribbean can learn much from the American exercise in democratic government in the region much lip service is paid to the ideals of democracy yet the people remain largely unaware of its true potential to elevate them to a more meaningful civilization without its brightest and most brilliant minds leaving the region annually in their numbers to seek greater opportunity in Europe, North America and Canada.
Sint Maarten is saddled with a leadership that claims to want a so called separate status yet their buffoonery and theatrics in the executive council is an Achilles heel that allows the Dutch the hold the islands populace literally hostage in the attainment of a the vaunted separate status.
The Europeans themselves have reiterated time and again that as far as they are concerned Sint Maarten can have its independence period in the absence of such the choice of Sint Maarten choosing to remain a part of the kingdom means that Sint Maarten must abide by their rules and they have consistently reiterated that “Good Governance “is a prerequisite to any separate status.
I maintain herein that the electorate on Sint Maarten is for the most part not educated as to what precisely there is to be gained from actual independence as opposed to the present reality some claim that we are not ready if by not ready they mean not educated or “conditioned” from the outset to think independently and to accept and acknowledge as a future goal and the end result of true civilization then I wholeheartedly agree , unfortunately the explanation of the visionless leadership is usually that the people will never be ready to be independent therefore like buffoons and unmen we must accept the present state affairs in effect simply giving oneself over to be governed by a proven inept increasingly out of touch leadership who are guided and influenced by a largely bigoted and even more out of touch with present day Sint Maarten Dutch European parliament with an electorate increasingly clamoring for a total discontinuation of the relationship with their once Caribbean slaves.
Since the Dutch electorate are increasingly against sending their taxes to the Antilles in the form of development aid  why then is the leadership unwilling to seek alternate means of securing said funds , the proverbial bottom is falling out of the development aid bucket from the Netherlands in particular in all practicality Sint Maarten will yet have to whether by force or sheer survival have to develop alternate means to procure funds and there are myriad of means in which this can be done, therefore the argument of the people not being ready is simply weightless as a matter of fact the people needs not ever be ready visionary, dynamic leadership are supposed to lead the people in the event of a shortage of such out of the people themselves leaders will be developed capable of the vision that leadership lacks thusly fulfilling that most basic of evolutionary principles namely the ability to evolve and develop anew principles that ever were but simply lay dormant it is every persons right to keep themselves undeveloped and backward no man or woman has the right to keep entire societies, nations and regions in a state of backwardness if such is the case the perceived leader is no leader at all but an imbecilic despotic tyrant dancing the slow and painful dance of the Mugabe’s of the world and even the Castro’s of the world for even though Castro is praised by many globally and throughout the region if any of those who live in Western societies and sing his praise had to choose between living in Castro’s Cuba and any Western nation they would opt to remain in the West .
Even without the America imposed embargo on Cuba the Cuban people will never know true freedom until democracy reigns in their land anyone naïve and foolish enough to romanticse Cuba is an idealist I have seen Cubans in my native Sint Maarten, I have friends who lived in East Germany during the period of before the Berlin wall came down people were not fleeing their home because they idealized Western culture they fled because they could see for themselves a better quality of life in the West, Cubans are not risking their lives trying to reach America because of idealism the benefits to them is worth life itself the chance to be equal to all men the chance to be free and live “independently” is an ideal that humanity has made sacred we are willing today increasingly to forfeit our very lives in order to be free therefore the world and the (Old Guard) on Sint Maarten should not be surprised that my generation will increasingly clamor for full and total independence from all foreign powers and more Caribbean integration these are the ideals of the “Republic” the true “Res Republica” the first experiment of a Caribbean republic was carried out in Haiti where they have failed others will not for the greatest teacher of humanity is humanity itself we are taught by history for better or worse it is only left to us to remain alert in our choices for the choices we take today will reverberate throughout our generations.
