Law enforcement on Trinidad after Muslims shot their way out of prison. A report in the Guardian on Trinidad and Tobago featured the following article, by Gail Alexander on Wednesday, June 14, 2017. Caricom states must urgently develop new strategies to win back the hearts and minds of young men now being recruited by the Islamic State (Isis), says Caricom Security Agency chief Francis Forbes. “Let’s accept that whether we like it or not, we’re already at war,” Forbes added at yesterday’s closing ceremony of a two-day Counter-Terrorism Strategy Conference. Forbes is executive director of Caricom’s Implementation Agency for Crime and Security (IMPACS), which hosted the event. Discussions by regional stakeholders and international experts strategised on tackling areas - from arms, financing and returning fighters, to preventing radicalisation - to build a collaborative regional framework to deal with terrorism. 12 Trinidad nationals deported from Turkey caught with ISIS recruiter in 2016.

This just in 12 persons all nationals of Trinidad and Tobago who were detained.d in Turkey since 2016, have all been deported back to their home country They arrived in Trinidad on Friday, 28, 2017. As I have indicated in numerous post’s on this Blog and on my Soualiga Youth Blog https://soualigayouth.wordpress.com/2017/04/11/regional-guides-to-life-after-islamic-state/ The returning fighters from Trinidad and Tobago who are returning to Trinidad will be a totally new and unpredictable reality not only for that country but they already have and will continue to alter the reality of the region, to the point of no return. Their fighting skill far exceeds that of the regional police, no regional military has seen a quarter of the combat that these combatants have. Their value to say narcotics trafficking cartel or an organization like the Jamaat al-Muslimeen is inestimable. The male combatants who return to the region, are a source of military, know how, a skill which can be outso...

Hassan Atwell and Scanny Martin they set the stage for young Trinidad men to, accept “shuhada” (martyrdom).

Trinidad is now infamous as the place in the western hemisphere from whence, the most jihadist’s per capita has immigrated (hijrah) to Iraq and Syria. Shane Crawford (deceased) is the most known jihadist, from Trinidad to date. I have written many posts on my Blog about Crawford and jihadism, in a Caribbean context. In any movement whether, fundamentalist or otherwise there must always be forbearers, those who shouldered the burden of responsibility to propagate in behalf of a given message, in the case of a jihadist, such propagation must entail that a jihadist must be prepared to sacrifice his or her life in the furtherance of their goals. One such propagator was Hassan Atwell along with his accomplice (brother in jihad), Scanny Martin. The two men set the stage and tone for all others who desired martyrdom (shuhada), to follow in their footsteps. Bear witness then to their reality in the suicide operation that inspired a generation.         ...
