The Inner Rot: Sint Maarten’s security personnel’s many failings.

Today Tuesday, November 15 2016 an article was printed in the Daily Herald under the heading Immigration Officer arrested for human trafficking, bribery.   The salient, potent, reality on Sint Maarten is the inability of the (state), to properly police itself hence the many opportunities for criminal activity to manifest throughout all levels of Government.
The woman J.M. was arrested by the Human Trafficking and Human Smuggling Unit of the St Maarten police Force. Her partner D.F. was also arrested at 7:00 today. Gino Bernadina the spokesman for the Prosecutor’s Office said: “The arrests are the results of a lengthy investigation that has been ongoing since April 2016, code-named ‘Ostrich’. It concerns an investigation carried out by police into the illegal admittance of Jamaican and Haitian nationals”.

SIMPSONBAY, Sint Maarten — Rogelio Gregory Koeiman (R.G.K.) (48) was arrested on Tuesday, November 15, 2016 by members of the St. Maarten Police Force, KPSM near his house in Simpson Bay.

The arrest is in connection with a decision of the Supreme Court in The Hague, The Netherlands of Tuesday, November 15, 2016 in which it has been decided that R.G.K. can be extradited to the United States of America, where he is wanted for drug-related charges.

It must be said here that Koeiman’s name rang throughout the streets in the early 1990’s, as a confirmed illicit narcotics trafficker at that time he was a detective. Koeiman was also arrested for the murder of a man on Curacao. His extradition to the United States for the trafficking of illicit narcotics, points to the reality, that narcotics trafficking is being conducted in the former Netherlands Antilles with the aid of state security personnel. The present archetypical drug trafficker in the popular accepted discourse is of the so called boys on the block. The boys on the block are not even allowed in the many gated communities that house the apex of narcotics trafficking on the island. Koeiman is not an exception he is the rule, the potent reality on the ground is the state itself is an employer of narcotics traffickers, making the state a narcotics trafficking entity, in extreme situations we speak of narco states. All islands of the former Netherlands Antilles including Sint Martin (the preferred spelling not for the French side but the English spelling), are poised to become narco-states. Independence is not only a talking point but an existential necessity for Sint Martin’s people”.
