Prison Director Rohan drops Bombshell accuses Prison Guards of Corruption!

In a devastating acknowledgment of internal corruption, Prison Director Rohan (himself the subject of a criminal investigation), accused the guards at Point Blanche prison of corruption. Something that I have indicated ad Infinium in numerous post’s on this Blog.

Last week police found a firearm, numerous phones and makeshift weapons at the Point Blanche detention center. Rohan claimed that the contraband items were being brought into the facility, by nightshift guards “against payment”.  Rohan vehemently refuted statements that contraband was being trafficked by visitors to the facility: “During the past two years we haven’t caught a single visitor in an attempt to things inside. Visitors do not want to miss the opportunity to see their loved ones. If we catch them for smuggling items they will be immediately and permanently denied access. We are controlling very well”.

Natasha Gibbs however shattered the illusion of “we are controlling very well”, when not more than 30 minutes prior to her interviewing Rohan for Caribisch Netwerk news, she managed to enter the facility with a cell-phone in her carry bag. Rohan feigned surprise when he was confronted with the evidence by Gibbs, “that is not how it should be”.  Rohan admitted that the baggage scanner has been non-functional ‘for weeks’.  Rohan stated that: “there is no money for repairs or for a new scanner”. Rohan alleges organized crime in the facility perpetrated by the prison staff; he specifically singles out the ‘night shift guards’.  The prison director categorically accused the guards in the following: “I know for sure that it is the night shift, because there is little supervision and less security. They take the risk. They have to be with a group that is the only explanation that I can find”.   He went even further and said that: “it is not just one person, if we search the cells we do not find just one phone, but several cell phones. And when we go back several weeks later we find twenty more. Then you start thinking jeez someone is making a lot of money here.

Rohan says it is impossible to tackle corruption amongst prison staff since the facility, is chronically short staffed. The situation at the Point Blanche detention facility is utterly untenable as I have indicated for years. The situation is in such tatters that the Inmates Association through lawyer Sjamira Roseburg of Sulvaran and Peters, is taking government to court because the safety of the prisoners at the Point Blanche detention facility can no longer, and never could be guaranteed.

The explosion situation will continue to further deteriorate!
